Car park opposite Anse de Port-la Forêt.
(S/E) From the car park, take Rue Charles de Gaulle, which climbs towards the centre of the village, and arrive at the enclosure of the 16th-century Notre-Dame d'Izel Vor Church and its calvary dating from 1500. (If it is open, it is well worth a visit). Go around it and descend via a nameless alleyway to reach a roundabout.
Yellow and blue markings
You will reach an area with sports facilities. Follow the street that runs along the cove; there is a designated pedestrian area. Turn left into a newly developed area (with games, benches and toilets) and take the footbridge across the inlet.
GR®®34markings: white and red (not very visible)
(1) Cross it and head for the Port-la-Forêt basins. Go around the port area, taking the time to admire the boats. Pass in front of the harbour master's office and reach the nautical centre.
(2) Cross it and continue along Kerleven Beach. To make the slightly more difficult walk in the sand easier, you can follow the edge of the pine trees in places. Pass a café and arrive at the end of the beach.
(3) Take the concrete path that follows the beach and continue along the coastal path overlooking the sea and passing several coves.
(4) Turn left to enter the campsite. A passage has been created to allow theGR®® to continue along Anse Saint-Laurent. Shortly after leaving the campsite, a small sheltered cove is a good place to stop. Continue along the more rugged coastal path in the woods overlooking the water's edge and arrive at a three-way junction.
Green markings (very few and in the opposite direction)
(5) Leave theGR®® trail straight ahead and turn left. A signpost marked "Route de Saint-Laurent" is located a little further up. Take the path that climbs up the rock face and becomes more enclosed (in winter, a small stream may flow here). You will reach a small road, which you will follow to the right. Look for a series of houses with triangular gables on the left. Continue along Chemin de Kerdaniou and, at the next crossroads, turn right onto Route de Kerdaniou, ignoring a road on the left and another on the right.
(6) At the "give way" sign, pass a large bakery 100 m on your right and turn left. Follow this street on the wide pavement on the right. Turn right at the no entry sign into the first street called Chemin de Kerambriec. Cross a road and continue opposite along Chemin de Créac'h an Ale, which veers to the right before joining a larger road.
(7) Follow this road to the left on the grassy verge where a pedestrian crossing has been marked out by wooden posts. Continue along the wide grassy strip to reach the D783 before the Kroaz Avalou roundabout.
(8) Turn left onto the first road, Loc Amand, leaving the hamlet of Maël on your left. Continue along this small road and pass an old building with a porch (currently undergoing renovation in 2024). Arrive at Loc Amand (the historic heart of La Forêt-Fouesnant) where you can see the porch of the former priory dating from the 11th century and an Iron Age stele topped with a slightly twisted iron cross, a sign of its later Christianisation.
(9) Head south to the next intersection, where you turn right. Follow this street on the left-hand pavement until you reach a roundabout.
(10) Enter the grassy enclosure and head to the right to go around the Chapel of Pénity or Saint-Maudez, built in the 18th century. Go around it on the right to descend into the outdoor theatre. On the left, you will see the fountain, which has been rebuilt to match the original construction, as well as a reconstructed bread oven. Exit and return to the car park opposite (S/E).
