Description of the walk

From the village of Guissény, head towards Le Curnic. At the end of the dyke, continue along Rue de Pêcheurs to reach the port.

GR 34 marked in white and red + green markings

(S/E) With your back to the car park, climb the dune and head west along the large Vougot beach (view of the Île Vierge lighthouse, 82.50 m high, built between 1897 and 1902, the tallest lighthouse in Europe and the tallest stone lighthouse in the world). Continue for about 2 km until you reach the coastal road.

Green markings

(1) At the signpost, leave theGR®34, which continues along the coast, turn left to cross the coastal road and take a sharp left turn onto the sandy path of La Palud. Continue straight ahead for about 1 km until you reach a crossroads near some rubbish bins.

No markings

(2) Leave the green markings that go to the right and continue straight ahead on a small road marked as a dead end. At the end, near an equestrian centre, continue along a grassy path slightly to the right and you will come to a sign indicating the Tourbière an Isquin discovery trail (access prohibited for safety reasons).

Green markings

(3) Continue straight ahead on the marked path that runs alongside the Étang du Curnic, the result of damming for agricultural purposes. Continue to the junction with a small road.

(4) At the discreet signpost, turn left onto a footbridge and follow the Ruisseau Alaan stream along the edge of the marsh until you reach a road. Cross carefully, go around the house on the right side of the dyke, cross a stream and climb onto the dyke.

GR 34 Marked in white and red + green markings

(5) Follow the path straight ahead on this dyke, which offers a view of the Étang du Curnic on your left and the Anse de Porz Olier on your right. Note the information on the ground about the fauna, flora and history of the dyke.

(6) At the end of the dyke, turn right to continue along the coastal path towards Pointe de Beg in Skeïz. Continue along Plage du Curnic beach (viewpoint over the islet of Énez Croaz-Hent) and head for the harbour car park (S/E).

Few birds, but it wasn't migration season yet. The trail was uninteresting for at least a third of the way.

A very beautiful hike... done in April, so there were very few people. I brought binoculars to observe the different species of birds. Very pleasant, and the coast is superb.

A really lovely walk between the marshes and the sea. Great for dogs as there are very few roads, almost none in fact. Highly recommended route.

The route taken at low tide offers beautiful views, but I think it's better to do this route at high tide.
At the start, I extended the walk to the end of the pier for the view.
The inner section between points 2 and 4 is not very interesting.
No difficulty.

The hike was very pleasant, both along the coast and inland, in the middle of the marsh. The last part of the walk was very beautiful, with the marsh on one side and the sea on the other.
