Description of the walk

The starting point is at the Jardin du Prat car park, where you can park.

(S/E) You can start the hike by walking around the Jardin du Prat. Then head south and turn right at the end of Rue du Prat.

(1) Then turn left onto the dirt track to reach the 16th-century Saint-Jaoua Chapel; several signs explain the history of this place.
The Saint-Jaoua fountain is located a little further down. You can find more information on the website of the association for the preservation of this chapel.

(2) Continue the walk along the path heading north-west, passing through Kerastréat and joining a road at Croaz Eugan.

(3) Turn left for 250 m, then turn right. Head north towards Keruzoc.

(4) Turn left, pass through this hamlet and you will come to a country lane at a bend in the road on the right.

(5) At this bend, turn onto the dirt track on your left which descends to a house 500 m further down, then turn right and continue along a country lane until you rejoin the road at Moulin de Keriber.

(6) Turn right and continue to the departmental road 59.

(7) Cross it carefully and take the first paved road on your left. Continue straight ahead and cross the hamlet of Pradeugan.

(8) After the hamlet, continue up the hill on your right and continue until you reach the road. Cross the road and rejoin the country lane on the other side, going downhill, and join a road near Moulin du Châtel.

(9) Turn right and, in the bend, take a path that begins to overlook the Aber Benoît.

(10) At the bend in the path, you will arrive at the Kerdudal Calvary, erected in 1616, as attested by its inscription. Continue south-east until you reach a road on a bend.

(11) Take it on the left and pass in front of the Coumou mill, then turn left onto the Rand'Abers 11 path and follow it until you reach a wooden bridge over the Aber-Benoît.

(12) Continue straight ahead along the shaded path beside the water, where there are a few benches if you want to stop for a picnic. Follow it until you reach the road to continue the walk. At the road, walk for about 100 m in the same direction, then turn left onto a path that joins a road.

(13) Cross the D52 carefully and turn left towards the Moulin de Kerbreden. Leave it on your left and continue along the path, then along the road that leads to the D38.

(14) Turn right for about 50 m and turn left onto a farm track until you reach the road.

(15) Turn right towards the village of Plouvien and head for the 19th-century church, whose bell tower will be visible during your journey.

(16) Take Rue Émile Salaun, then turn left at the roundabout to return to the starting point (S/E).

Notes

Depending on the season and the weather in the days leading up to your visit, some paths may be very muddy, so bring high-top shoes and a spare pair if you don't want to get your vehicle dirty on the way back!
If you are doing this hike in cold weather, wrap up warm as the wind can be quite cool and strong when you are on the plain.
There are no drinking water points along the route.

between markers 11 and 12

as the owner of plots in the woods along the Aber Benoit, I would like to inform you that the path is currently blocked to prevent accidents since the 2023 Ciara storm (large hole, etc.)

In fact, we have seen hikers passing through the farm above at Quillifréoc Vraz
the best thing for hikers to do is to continue towards Moulin du Coumou to rejoin the old railway line
thank you for your understanding

enjoy your hike!

The start and end of the trail are unremarkable. The section along the river is very nice. However, at one point, the path is blocked by a mobile "Road closed" sign. Further on, there is a "Private property. No entry" sign with a construction tape blocking the entrance to the path. This prevents law-abiding hikers from enjoying a beautiful walk (this has been confirmed to me).
This is a common problem with signs of this type, whether justified, legal or just a bluff by a neighbour.
