Autour de l'Aber Benoît depuis Plouvien

The start is at the Jardin du Prat car park, where you can park.

(S/E) You can start the walk by going round the Jardin du Prat. Then head towards the path to the south and turn right until you reach the end of Rue du Prat.

(1) Then turn left onto the dirt track to reach the 16th-century Saint-Jaoua Chapel; several information boards will explain the history of this site.
The Saint-Jaoua Fountain is situated a little further down the slope. You can find more information on the website of the association dedicated to preserving this chapel.

(2) Continue the walk along the path heading north-west, passing through Kerastréat, and join a road at Croaz Eugan.

(3) Turn left for 250 m, then turn right. Head north towards Keruzoc.

(4) Turn left, pass through this hamlet and you’ll reach a country lane at a bend to the right of the road.

(5) At this bend, turn onto the dirt track on your left which descends to a house 500 metres further down, then turn right and continue along a country lane until you rejoin the road at Moulin de Keriber.

(6) Turn right and continue to the D59.

(7) Cross it carefully, then take the first tarmac track on your left. Carry on straight ahead and pass through the hamlet of Pradeugan.

(8) After the hamlet, follow the uphill track on your right and carry on until you reach the road. Cross the road and rejoin the country lane on the other side, heading downhill, until you reach a road near the Moulin du Châtel.

(9) Turn right and, as you round the bend, take a path that begins to overlook the Aber Benoît.

(10) As the path bends, you’ll come to the Kerdudal wayside cross, erected in 1616 as its inscription attests. Continue south-east until you reach a road at a bend.

(11) Turn left onto it and walk past the Coumou mill, then turn off onto the Rand’Abers 11 path, which branches off to the left, and follow it until you reach a wooden bridge over the Aber Benoît.

(12) Carry on straight ahead along the shaded path by the water’s edge , which has a few benches if you fancy a picnic. Follow it to the road to continue your walk. At the road, walk for about 100 m in the same direction, then turn left onto a path that joins a road.

(13) Cross the D52 carefully and turn left towards the Moulin de Kerbreden. Leave the mill on your left and continue along the footpath, then along the road which leads onto the D38.

(14) Turn right for about 50 metres and turn left onto a farm track until you reach the road.

(15) Turn right towards the village of Plouvien and head for the 19th-century church, whose bell tower will be visible as you walk.

(16) Turn onto Rue Émile Salaun, then turn left at the roundabout to return to the starting point (S/E).

Depending on the season and the weather in the days leading up to your visit, some paths may be very muddy, so bring high-top shoes and a spare pair if you don't want to get your vehicle dirty on the way back!
If you are doing this hike in cold weather, wrap up warm as the wind can be quite cool and strong when you are on the plain.
