Around Fougères via Laignelet

(S/E) Walk down the boulevard towards the Moulin de Groslay.
After walking alongside the pond on your left, turn left to reach the Moulin de Groslay. Take the path on the left, which bends to the right, heading east, and leads onto a road. Head left to pass under the motorway bridge.

(1) Turn left to go round the rainwater storage area; continue south then south-east.
The path leads to Les Hauts Arons. Follow the road to the left, then take the second path on the left, heading almost north.
It will bend to the right and head east. Ignore a path branching off to the left; carry on straight ahead and take a second bend to the right to head south.

(2) After the first houses, turn left, then keep left onto the Chemin des Gautrais. The road becomes a path and runs alongside several small ponds on the right, linked by the Ruisseau de la Pichonnais.
The path leads to a road.

No signposting

The^GR® continues to the right along the road.

(3) Carry on straight ahead. After 150m, the path ends at the road leading to the village of Laignelet.
Before the sign marking the entrance to the village, take the road on the left. At a sharp left-hand bend, carry on straight ahead along the path.
Although not shown on IGN maps, this path is very passable. Follow it round a bend to the right – a section which can be very muddy in wet weather – and do not hesitate to walk along the edge of the field on the right; then round a bend to the left and continue until you reach a track.

(4) Turn right and you’ll come out onto a tarmac road opposite the war memorial.
Cross the D806 and continue to the left. After 50 metres, leave the road to the left and take the path on the right (ignore the wider path on the left). This forest trail may have a few muddy sections in wet weather, but the scenery is well worth the effort.
Cross the Ruisseau de Groslay and reach the forest track. Take it to the left.

The^GR® joins from a path on the right.

(5) Continue straight on along the forest lane.
Before the track widens, at a crossroads, turn left, heading south. Turn left to cross the Groslay Stream via a footbridge and walk alongside the pond on your right.

(6) Turn left towards the picnic area (barbecue, tables and benches).
Cross the Route de Gorron with care, and continue straight ahead.
The path runs alongside the stream and is lined with information boards about the different species of trees planted there.
At the end of the path, you’ll reach Boulevard de Groslay. The car park is on the right (S/E).

Please note that some sections may be very muddy or even flooded after heavy rain.
