Park just before or just after the Loup roundabout (using GPS, aim for 114 Route de Saint-Martin-en-Haut in Chaussan). A special car park for hikers is available, with an information panel about the region.
The boxwood wolf in the middle of the roundabout reminds you that a farmer killed a wolf with his bare hands here in the 18th century.
(S/E) At the Loup roundabout, take the small street that goes up at the corner of the school. After 30 metres, follow the left-hand lane and continue on Chemin des Garennes until you reach the four-way intersection at Pinloup.
(1) Follow the road opposite towards Saint-Genoux. The street turns into a path and you enter the Pinloup woods. When you can no longer continue straight ahead and you see greenhouses in front of you, take the path that climbs up to your right. Follow this main path for about 2 km: on your left, in the distance, you will see a section of the Gier aqueduct.
(2) At Le Camp, continue straight ahead. Further on, you may be lucky enough to see a small herd of black and white sheep. When you can no longer continue straight ahead, take the street on the left for 100 m towards the departmental road.
(3) In Saint-Genoux, turn right just before you reach the main road, towards Bois des Rivoires. After about 40 metres, follow the path on the left and go downhill.
(4) Follow the signs for "Les Ravières" on the right. Keep going, it's the last climb! Stay on the path that turns right after 500 metres. At Les Ravières, you can admire the beautiful renovated houses. In the middle of the hamlet, at the fork, take the road on the right.
At the last house, a signpost indicates the direction of "Chaussan", then 150 m further on, you will come to a crossroads.
(5) Follow the road towards Le Boulard on the left. Continue on this quiet road for a little over 1 km. Take the path on the right at Le Boulard. You can admire a beautiful, large tree house. Continue in the opposite direction for about 400 m.
(6) When you reach the crossroads at Les Perrières, take the road on the right. After 150 metres, inside a right-angle bend, admire the majestic mulberry tree.
Continue along this main path, which eventually zigzags downhill, then pass the hamlet of La Bruyère with its perfectly preserved wine press. The path turns into a street until you reach the Charmay crossroads with its stone cross.
(7) Take the road on your right to return to Chaussan. After about 500 metres, follow the small path on your right that runs alongside a tennis court and the Loups school and eventually leads to the Route de Mornant.
You are parked on the other side of the street, but you may want to take a look at the nearby Romanesque church on your left.
Otherwise, turn right and return to the car park where you started (S/E).
