Car park on the main street, below Blancherupt Town Hall.
(S/E) Walk up the main street to the church.
(1) Take the path marked with a yellow ring and blue triangle, climbing to the left and passing by the church. This path climbs for 800 m (this is the most difficult section of the route). On the climb, ignore the Blue Triangle marked path on the left and continue climbing, following the Yellow Ring to the top of a bare ridge called La Boucherie (altitude 710 m). Here, there is a beautiful panoramic view of the Champ du Feu massif and the village of Bellefosse, dominated by the Château de la Roche emerging from the fir trees. Walk 100 m to the left and back to admire the panorama of the Donon massif and the Col de la Perheux.
(2) Turn right, follow the fence and continue for 500 m to a crossroads marked with yellow and blue signs.
(3) Take the path marked with a yellow ring and blue cross to the right, which enters the forest after 600 metres and arrives at a fork.
(4) Option: you can turn back here. Turn completely left onto the Yellow Cross marked trail for 1.7 km to reach the ruins of Château de la Roche (allow 1½ hours for the additional 3.4 km).
Otherwise, continue into the forest until you reach another fork.
(5) Leave the forest path and turn right onto the beautiful tree-lined avenue, following the yellow signposts. Continue straight ahead until you reach a left-hand bend.
(6) Turn right onto the small Chevalet Jaune path towards Fouday. Enjoy the beautiful view of Fouday as you leave the forest and reach a crossroads: the resting place. There is a bench here where you can take a break or eat your packed lunch.
(7) Turn right onto the downhill path marked with a yellow ring. Ignore the path that continues downhill to the left and continue straight ahead until you reach a hairpin bend to the left.
(8) Continue straight ahead on the path marked with a blue triangle (markings only visible a little further on) which will take you back to Blancherupt.
(9) On the outskirts of Blancherupt, there are two options:
- turn left to get back to the car park near the town hall more quickly.
- Continue up the pleasant little path to discover the back of Blancherupt from a different angle. Reach the top of the village and go down the main street to return to the car park (S/E).
