The walk starts at the car park on the edge of the Route du Bord du Lac.
Please note that on nice days, the two car parks on either side of the road fill up quickly after 12 noon. An alternative is to park in the car park in the centre (next to the crossing point (5)) and start the hike from there.
(S/E) From the car park, with your back to the lake, turn right and walk along the lake until you reach the Petit Bilieu climb.
(1) Take this small climb on the left to the Route de Charavines.
(2) Cross Route de Charavines (take care) to find Montée du Raffet slightly to the right. Continue climbing for about 150 metres, then turn left onto Montée de la Revatière.
Almost at the end of the tarmac road, in the left-hand bend, take the path opposite through the fields. Follow this path to Route du Grand Bois.
(3) Follow it on the left until you reach the crossroads in front of Bilieu Church. Walk past the church on the left along Chemin du Sabot de la Cure until you reach the end (stop sign).
(4) Turn left down Route du Tissage and arrive in the village centre on the D50d, after a wide right-hand bend.
(5) Cross the main road, turn right towards a bus shelter and a car park. Cross the car park and follow Route de Fayard et Cotes. At the junction with Chemin de Maljonnin, continue straight on along Route de la Taillée for about 300 m until you reach the start of a path.
(6) Leave the road and take the field path on the left. Follow this path straight ahead in a north-easterly direction. It enters the forest.
Further on, ignore the paths that branch off to the left, stay in the forest, keeping to the right, and continue straight ahead until you reach the tarmac road, Chemin de Trallud à la Haute Verronnière.
(7) Continue straight ahead, then at the crossroads about 150 metres further on, follow the Route de la Haute Verronière straight ahead, which then turns left. Continue until you reach a hairpin bend to the right.
(8) At this bend, turn left onto a path. After about 100 metres, turn right.
After a right-hand bend, ignore the paths on the left and continue to a T-junction.
(9) Turn left towards the south. The path, on the edge of the forest, joins a path coming from the left. Continue to the Y-junction after a right-hand bend.
(10) Turn right and descend to the right towards the houses to find the Route de Montferrat.
(11) Cross this road (take care) to join Chemin de la Jacquinière.
This small road offers a beautiful view of Lake Paladru. You will arrive at a fork in the road at a place called Le Charamel.
(12) Continue on the right-hand branch, Chemin du Bernardin. At the next junction, turn right and head down towards the lake to reach Route du Bord du Lac.
Cross (protected crossing) and turn left to return to the car park (S/E).
