The walk around Lake Paladru

This route starts in Charavines at the car park opposite the tourist office.

(S/E) From the car park, head towards the roundabout, take the second exit, cross the D50 with care and arrive at Pagetière.

(1) Turn right onto Rue des Bariandes. Then take the first left onto Chemin du Cuchet and, at the end of the track, continue along the path to the D17 at Les Fougères.

(2) Cross it carefully and take the track opposite, then continue along the road that extends from it until you reach the end at Le Gibet.

(3) Keep left until you reach the crossroads in the centre of Le Pin.

(4) Turn 90° to the right and pass between the ponds before continuing to the right at the next junction. Pass a turning to reach a second one at Les Allex.

(5) Turn right, then follow the^GR® which starts on the left after the next building. Continue straight on, then, at the road, turn left towards Le Brandoux.

(6) Turn right and continue up the track that extends the path.

(7) Keep going straight ahead until you reach the next road, turn left and then continue straight ahead again until you reach the houses at La Montagne.

(8) Keep to the right, then go straight on at the bend. Further on, cross a road and rejoin it further down. Turn right until you reach the A-road at Le Calatrin.

(9) Turn left onto the D50. Pass the Paladru town hall and continue to the second junction.

(10) Turn right onto Rue du Petit Port. As this road bends to the right, head straight on towards the woods to reach the “Chemin des Marais” signpost at the departmental road.

(11) Continue to the right along the D90, then take the second path on the left. Pass through the hamlet of Le Touvier, then ignore a Fork in the road and arrive at a crossroads with a cross. Go up to the left and keep to the right onto a street that leads into a track. Follow it to the first houses in Verney.

(12) Go down the street for 100 m and keep right twice. Then continue straight on until you leave the built-up area and reach Le Mazonin.

(13) First turn right then left to join a track. Keep to the right until you reach Bilieu.

(14) Turn right onto Route de Fayarde Cotes. Then cross Route du Vieux Moulin and follow Route du Tissage to the cemetery and the sign for “Petit Essard”.

(15) Keep to the right, pass a junction and leave the houses behind to reach the Grand Bois.

(16) Take the path leading uphill to the left before the sports ground. At Bois des Bruyères, keep to the right until you reach Croix des Cochettes.

(17) Continue straight ahead (south-east) and keep going downhill straight ahead until you reach the road. Turn right towards La Poype.

(18) Turn right towards Le Souchet.

(19) Turn left, then left again at the next Fork in the road. At the end of the track, turn left towards the Ayguebelle sign.

(20) Turn sharply right onto a track. When you reach the road, continue to the right then left at the crossroads. Keep going straight on until you reach the Vannes district.

(21) Keep going straight on, turning left at the crossroads, and continue to the starting point. (S/E)

The route is marked with yellow paint. The waypoints correspond to the signposts located at the main junctions, which should be followed starting from Charavines.

The hike can be completed in 5 hours 45 minutes.

In the four villages (Charavines, Le Pin, Paladru, Bilieu), there are shops, public toilets and a beach (except in Bilieu). The bus service from Voiron runs only during the summer months.
