A beautiful circuit in the Gard garrigue, discovering some of its small hidden hamlets.

A short, shady walk for most of the way. You'll discover a variety of landscapes. Paths full of flowers and scents of different types of wood, freshness and proximity to the river.Ideal for groups or families. Be careful between (7) and (8), where you walk on the asphalt road.

A beautiful hike on and around Mont Bouquet. Magnificent views throughout the varied route. The route is very well signposted (yellow markings) until you reach Le Castellas, after which the signposting is a little less frequent.

This is a simple hike with little elevation gain, just over 20 km, so it's a bit challenging but still accessible to many. Above all, it's a very pleasant hike. Starting from Euzet-les-Bains, this route takes you through Saint-Hippolyte-de-Caton, Saint-Étienne-d'Olm, Saint-Cézaire-de-Gauzignan, Saint-Maurice-de-Cazevieille and Saint-Jean-de-Ceyrargues. Between each village, you will pass through pleasant countryside with fields and woods.

Small circuit around Euzet, to discover the Cave or Baume des Camisards.

A lovely hike, preferably done in spring to avoid the summer heat. A fine balance between shady paths in charming oak forests and open areas mostly in vineyards. The thousand-year-old juniper tree alone is worth the trip, such is its majesty.

Stroll through the vineyards around Bourdic to discover the grape varieties and the amazing rocks carved into the walls of an ancient Roman quarry.

This is a fairly shaded hike, with one section offering a lovely view. The quarries are a fun and peaceful place for a picnic. The distance is not a problem as there is little elevation gain, making this a hike that is accessible to many, with the added bonus of a visit to Saint Quentin and its pottery workshops on the way back!

A circuit around Uzès, discovering the Eure valley and its source that once fed the city of Nimes, then a loop through Gardoise scrubland to return to Uzès.

A walk along the Alzon river allows you to discover the source of the Eure, which was captured by the Romans to supply Nîmes with drinking water via the aqueduct. The remains are still visible. The walk then climbs to a magnificent viewpoint offering a wide panorama of Uzès.

This short route through the village of Saint-Chaptes in the Gard allows you to discover the rocks sculpted in open garrigue and also gives you a view over the village, its old narrow streets and its castle.

A beautiful hike that takes you to the Guidon du Mont Bouquet, where you can admire the superb panorama of the Gard, the Ardèche and Lozère mountains, the Drôme and Mont Ventoux. Despite the numerous trails, it is not difficult to find your way, as the antennas at the summit serve as guides.

A beautiful, easy hike, best done in spring or autumn. Good paths, sometimes a little stony, lead you through heath and holm oak woods.

This hike starts from the car park below the village of Lussan, which I visited on the way back. It crosses fields and forest, heathland, to reach the Portail des Concluses, which this year at the end of May still had water, so it was superb. We climb back up from the Portail des Concluses on the other side, a good climb that is a little strenuous but nothing insurmountable. After walking through the heath, we pass through hamlets and villages interspersed with passages through the surrounding countryside to return to the village of Lussan.

Discover Blauzac, its Roman bridge and its "capitelles", dry-stone buildings used mainly as shelters for farmers.

A route that starts in the heath and climbs up ancient paths to the heart of Uzès. Take a short tour of the town and descend via the pleasant green area around the Eure fountain. Then climb back up to "the Mountain" (as it is called), where you can enjoy a superb view of the bishopric of Uzès. The return journey through the woods and heath is dotted with drystone shelters.

A very pretty, varied walk with no particular difficulties. A few short detours will allow you to discover the castle, 15th-century barris, wash house, etc. Not to mention the moving Harry Potter-esque cemetery at the Saint-Jean Chapel and the imposing Coucouvèze dolmen. All this amid the ochre colours that line much of the route. Some parts of the route follow tarmac roads, but these are relatively short and, above all, they are very small roads with hardly any traffic.

Hike through the heart of the heath, along the cliffs overlooking the Gardon. The views of the Saint-Nicolas bridge and the river are magnificent.

A very beautiful route that allows you to visit the small village of Vic and get as close as possible to the Gardon river with the sublime viewpoint of Castellas. This hike is not recommended in the height of summer. Very little of the route is in the shade.

Follow theGR®6 trailthrough the heath, then descend to a magnificent wood of huge pine trees on the banks of the Gardon. The view is exceptional! The trail then follows the banks of the Gardon, passing by its resurgences. You will then arrive at the Moulin de la Barque and the Hermitage of Saint-Vérédème. The Baume that follows crosses the wall and requires a torch, but is only open part of the year to protect the bats. A steep climb equipped with handholds allows you to return via theGR®6.

From the Pont Saint-Nicolas de Campagnac and its priory, a loop takes you through part of the Gorges du Gardon. You can admire the meandering Gardon, the Grotte de la Trône (an ancient prehistoric shelter with drawings of mammoths and a feline dating from the Upper Palaeolithic behind a closed iron door), the Baume Percée, seen from above and below, the climbing cliffs at Russan...

This is a long hike that takes you through part of the Gardon Gorges, with beautiful views of the river and the La Baume site.

The word "yerle" is of Occitan origin and refers to the alluvial part of a river bend. The route follows the top of the cliffs of the Gorges du Gardon, which overlook the river by about a hundred metres. Numerous caves are visible in the cliffs, including the Grotte de la Trône (currently closed for preservation), which contains paintings dating back 37,000 years. Descend to the Gardon twice, then take a short walk on the large cliff at Russan.

This summer hike will allow you to discover a little-known part of the Gardon Gorges as you walk along its bed in a sumptuous and wild setting. The return trip along the paths at the top of the cliffs will take you higher up and offer you a different view of the route you have just completed below. Note: check the Practical Information section for water levels.

Set off to explore the small villages of the Uzège, the sandstone and quartzite formations classified by André Malraux, the remains of Copper Age huts and a beautiful, well-restored Romanesque chapel.

A beautiful walk through the Mediterranean forest to reach the Gardon and enjoy La Chapelle. Please note that the cave is closed from 1 May to 15 August and from 15 November to 15 March. The descent is gentle, but the climb back up is steeper, though fairly short. Alternatively, set off from Collias to enjoy the Gardon Gorges for longer 30/10/2023: I have reclassified this route as "medium difficulty" following several comments about the steep climb on the way back (+100m over 300m)

A magnificent hike that will take you to several magical sites in the Gard department. This hike is best done in spring, when water is still flowing in the Aiguières waterfalls, where the colour of the water will amaze you and make you forget the difficulty of the route.

Set off to explore the Concluses Canyon, carved into the limestone by the Aiguillon. A complete change of scenery in a wild and unspoilt setting, this hike is best enjoyed in summer when the Aiguillon is almost dry, but expect to get your feet wet. The hike takes place in the rugged riverbed, so you will have to climb frequently, accompanied by the sound of cicadas.

There is a lot to see in Lussan. Start with the clear waters of the narrows at the Portail des Concluses and carry on to the Pierre Plantée standing stone. You will be delighted by a breathtaking view of the Cévennes and will cross the scrubland on varied terrain to the Table des Turcs dolmen. Eventually you arrive at La Lèque, which is an ideal spot for a lunchbreak. The last few kilometres are on wide lanes, leading back to the first section of the route.

This hike will take you on paths through preserved scrubland and protected in a Natura 2000 zone. Its strong points: a village and a medieval castle overhanging fields of olive-trees and panoramas to take your breath away!

A walk beginning above the Gardon Gorges and continuing down along Gardon River. Please note that part of the route crosses an area destroyed by fires in 2017.

Family outing visiting the beautiful site of Collias Hermitage.

A short circular loop that passes through the Hermitage and climbs up the wild Hermitage valley along a small, cool, shaded path. After a small cultivated area, you return northwards along a track on the ridges overlooking the wild Fressinière valley. The end of the route offers superb views of the north of the valley, its villages, Mont Bouquet, Mont Ventoux and the Pont du Gard. Caution: avoid this route when the rock is wet as some sections are slippery.

This route does not follow theGR®®6on the plateau but takes a path along the cliff side overlooking the Gardon. The view is impressive and allows you to admire the canyon, which is over 100 metres deep. You may be lucky enough to encounter some wild goats. ⚠️ Following a Prefectural Biotope Protection Order, this hike is prohibited from January to June each year.

This hike is only permitted from 1 July to 14 January This circuit, on the right bank of the Gardon, alternates between balcony paths overlooking the Gardon gorges with unobstructed views to the north, then descends to the river and climbs back up through a wild valley.
