Turn right onto Cours National, then turn right onto Rue Urbain Loyer (at No. 3 you will find the Sainte-Colombe Church). Continue to the end of the street to see the Arc de Germanicus opposite, on the other side of the Charente.
(1) Turn around and take the second street on your left, Rue Saint-Michel. At the end of the street, cross Rue Saint-Pierre, then turn right and left to arrive in front of the forecourt of Saint-Pierre Cathedral.
(2) With your back to the entrance, turn left onto Rue Georges Clémenceau (at no. 22, see the Town Hall). Turn left onto Square Philippe Bonne, then go straight ahead onto Rue de Champagne. Cross a car park, staying as close as possible to the river, go down a few steps and continue opposite Quai Palissy (beautiful façade at no. 4).
Turn right onto the pedestrian crossing and follow Place de l'Aubarrée, keeping to the right. Continue straight ahead on Rue Saint-François, then cross Cours Reverseaux towards the Basilica of Saint-Eutrope. Opposite No. 40 Rue Saint-Eutrope is the entrance to the crypt.
(3) Go to the basilica forecourt, then turn right onto Rue des Arènes and continue to the end. At the bottom, turn left onto the path towards the amphitheatre. In front of the exit portico, turn left onto a path that goes around the arena and offers a panoramic view. You can go to the ticket office for a tour (€4 and free for under 18s in April 2018).
(4) Turn around and go back to the exit gate and take the access path again.
At the crossroads, continue straight ahead on the path and then go up the stairs to Cours Reverseaux. Cross it to return to the car park (S/E).
