Departure from the south-west of the village of Chantraine, itself located west of Épinal in the Vosges department.
Head south-west from Chantraine along Rue Général de Gaulle; at the junction with Route Pass Communale, turn right and continue for 150 metres until you reach a car park at the junction with Chemin Marulaz.
(S/E) Head south-west along Chemin Marulaz. Follow this wide track almost in a straight line, ignoring the paths on either side, and continue for about 1,200 metres.
(1) At the crossroads, ignore the path on the right and continue straight ahead until you reach a road at a place called La Basse Henri.
(2) Ignore the road and turn right onto the path marked with a red disc, which crosses the Bois du Marquisat. Follow the stream to a three-way junction.
(3) Leave the Disque Rouge and keep right on the Chevalet Rouge trail. Continue until you reach the Ruisseau d'Olima, cross it, and you will immediately arrive at a large path.
(4) Take the path on the left, rejoin the Disque Rouge trail and arrive at the Olima farm. Go around the farm on the right and after 150 m, you will arrive at a road.
(5) Cross the road and take the path opposite, heading left. Follow this path downhill, marked with red discs, to Lac de Bouzey.
(6) Turn right onto the road.
(7) Leave the road on the left to take the footbridges, rejoin the road and follow it along the parallel path to continue along the lake. You will reach a cove and a car park on the right.
(8) Take the path on the right marked with a red disc, keep left at the three-way junction and arrive near the Étang de la Comtesse.
(9) Go around it on the left, then cross it via the duckboards and take the path marked with a red disc on the left. The path curves to the right, climbing slightly, crosses a forest track and then reaches a road you crossed earlier.
(10) Cross the road and follow the Red Disc marked trail opposite. Continue for about 100 metres, then turn right onto the path leading down into the valley. Follow this good path, passing the ruins of the powder magazine on your left. After 150 metres, go through a tunnel under the Roches d'Olima and continue for about 100 metres.
(11) Leave the red disc markings and continue along the path opposite for about 1.5 km. Walk past the buildings on your left until you reach a road leading downhill. Take the hairpin bend to the right, keep left at the three-way junction and follow the Chemin de Beau Désir. Cross the Ruisseau d'Olima stream and you will come to a fork at a place called Beau Désir.
(12) Leave the road and ignore Chemin de la Basse des Boules on your right to head south-east along the uphill path. After 50 m, the path curves to the left then back to the right, continuing uphill and then levelling out. Ignore several paths branching off to the right and continue along the path curving slightly to the right before reaching Chemin de Jean Clément.
(13) Follow this path to the right to return to the starting point at the Pass Communale junction (S/E).
Part of Lake Bouzey not too busy (probably because of the fog)... To be redone in good weather
