The starting point is the Izeaux cemetery car park, at the end of Rue du Repos, where parking is easy.
(S/E) From the car park, take the path along the cemetery wall, heading east, and go down the steps. At the foot of the steps, turn right into Chemin de la Petite Vie and climb up to Rue Albert Reyner (D731).
(1) Cross it carefully, diagonally, and follow this road to the first street on the right (Chemin de la Châtaigneraie). Follow this road as far as Route du Plan.
(2) Fork left on this road, pass the Ruisseau la Ravageuse and look for a track on the right.
(3) Leave the road and turn right onto the Chemin du Bois. As you pass through the undergrowth, you will enjoy an unobstructed view of the town centre and, behind it, the Bièvre plain. On a clear day, you can see as far north-east as the Massif des Bauges overlooking Annecy.
(4) At the end of the road, continue straight ahead on Rue Sully, following it all the way to the rugby stadium. When you arrive opposite the tennis court and rugby stadium, turn right towards the centre of the village, continuing along the same street until you reach Avenue de la Gare.
(5) Follow this avenue to the right to explore the 'tracolets' (small pedestrianised streets) that criss-cross the heart of the village. Turn right onto Quai Jacquard. Then turn left, between the houses, onto a narrow pedestrian walkway that will take you to the foot of the steps beneath the church.
From the foot of the stairs, cross Rue Jean Jaurès(with care), pass behind the butcher's shop and arrive at Rue Voltaire.
Then take a passage between the houses: the passage does not exist on the map, but it is there, as indicated on the route. Enter the square at the beginning of Impasse Lamartine (formerly Place de La Concorde, now Place du 19 Mars 1962), and walk past the town fountain (formerly a wash-house).
(6) From the town fountain, turn right up Rue Voltaire (the passageway does not exist on the map, but is there, as indicated on the route).
Continue along Rue Voltaire towards the village centre. Cross Rue Jean Jaurès, carefully, to take Rue de la Paix, then Rue Lachanal, away from the traffic, to reach Place de la Liberté, opposite the school.
Then take the Chemin des Écoliers opposite to reach the Parc de La Mairie. Cross the park, heading south.
(7) Exit through the pedestrian gate at the far end, on the left, onto Rue Albert Reynier. Follow this carefully to the right for a few metres to reach Rue du Repos. Follow it to the left to reach the starting point at the cemetery car park (S/E).
