Other walks in the area
Loop around Notre-Dame de Belpeuch
A loop, mainly through woods, starting from the charming and picturesque sanctuary of Notre-Dame de Belpeuch, which means "the beautiful mountain". Located in the heart of the Xaintrie, it contains a magnificent statue of the Virgin Mary, dating from the 15th century. There are a few steep slopes, but the walk is pleasant. Good walking shoes are necessary.
Gorges de la Cère, from Laval-de-Cère to Laroquebrou
A pleasant but very long hike in the heart of nature, far from civilisation. 1,000 m of elevation gain. The Gorges de la Cère are very wild and steep-sided. They are only accessible on foot or by train. The hike is almost entirely in the shade and, as a result, the trees often hide the view. Best attempted in spring or autumn?
Les Moulinots
Walk along the Xaintrie Noire and Gabariers trails in the shady undergrowth between the Roche and Clauzel streams. The trail is marked in yellow throughout and numbered (6).
Château du Doux
From the Dordogne valley, a path leads up to the heights of Altillac, south of the Xaintrie. The shared influence of Quercy (on the houses) and Cantal (on the barns) can be felt in the village.
On the heights of Beaulieu-sur-Dordogne
A lovely route that climbs to higher ground for beautiful views of the Dordogne Valley and the village of Altillac, before descending for a visit to Beaulieu-sur-Dordogne.
The hilly Dordogne in Monceaux
A pleasant route in the hills above the Dordogne valley, with some lovely views, starting from Monceaux, an interesting village with its traditional houses.
The heights of Sousceyrac
This trail allows you to discover the charms of the Ségala landscape. It runs alongside streams, undergrowth and remote hamlets where time seems to have stood still.
The Xaintrie Blanche Route
The Tour de la Xaintrie Blanche starts from Argentat, following aGRP®® trail. The first stage takes us via the Sablier Dam, Saint-Geniez-ô-Merle and Les Tours de Merle to Saint-Cirgues-La-Loutre. The second stage will take us towards Saint-Julien-aux-Bois, Saint-Privat and Darazac, before reaching Le Rieu, a stone’s throw from the Chastang Dam. The third and final stage will follow the Dordogne towards Lac de Feyt, heading for Servières-le-Château and Charlannes, before returning to Argentat.
