Notes

A GPX track is recommended as there is no comprehensive signposting and some paths are not yet shown (or are incorrectly positioned) on either the OSM or IGN maps.

There is no drinking water along the route. You can collect water from streams and rivers, but you must have a way of filtering it.

The ‘Difficult’ rating is due to the long distance of each stage.

This route follows part of the ‘Entre Lesse et Lomme’ circular route in the opposite direction, an initiative launched by Libin Town Council in partnership with the Grande Forêt de Saint-Hubert and the Maison du Tourisme de la Forêt de Saint-Hubert. Signposting is only in place for the clockwise direction and covers three stages.

Bané campsite: you may set up camp after 5 pm and must leave before 9 am.

Hunting: It is not recommended to hike on the “Between Lesse and Lomme” route between 21 September and 31 December due to the hunting season. Temporary access restrictions may be in place on certain sections at various times. If you wish to access the route nonetheless, please check the map and dates here. These are updated annually.

Really great! But be careful about hunting seasons, check beforehand or it could be cut short

A truly worthwhile immersion in nature, with a night’s stay in a bivouac without getting a fine.
Beautiful, fairly varied paths with no tarmac (apart from the 3.5 deniers spent exclusively on roads on the second day) and very, very few houses. The challenge lies in the distance (my GPS says 29 on the first day, 25 on the second) and carrying the rucksack, which tires the legs a bit more and slows you down. The elevation gain is manageable – no killer climbs!
I completed the whole route using maps for guidance (no problems with the 1:12,500 scale, even though my eyesight isn’t what it used to be)
It’s worth noting that the campsite isn’t in the same place as it used to be; it’s 600 metres further on and, in theory, you need to book your overnight stay on the website (the site isn’t very big).

Extension of the hunting season in 2021!!

Hunting seasons will be extended until mid-February. During this period, we advise against undertaking the ‘Entre Lesse et Lomme’ walk, as we cannot guarantee that it will be possible to complete the route without having to leave the path to avoid hunting areas, or worse still, that the campsite will be inaccessible for the same reasons.
