Zinal - Arolla

(S) Take the Sorebois cable car and start the hike at the upper station.

(1) Find the Tour du Cervin trail, which is still marked in white, red and white (BRB), and, via a very pleasant climb, sometimes on the trail, sometimes on the ski slope, reach the first pass of the day, the Corne de Sorebois.

(2) As you cross the pass, you will see the large Lac de Moiry and its dam. Descend the numerous hairpin bends of the trail and arrive at the dam.

(3) Once you reach the left bank, begin the second ascent, that of the Col de Torrent. Cross the mountain pasture heading west to reach Lac des Autanes at an altitude of 2,686 metres.

(4) Tackle the last slopes of the pass. Reach the pass, where you will be rewarded with breathtaking views of the surrounding 4,000-metre peaks.

(5) Begin the long descent, cutting across the farm tracks.

(6) Reach the hamlet of Villa in the better-known commune of Evolène.

(7) Then take the bus to Arolla (E), today's destination.

At the Moiry dam, refreshments and cold drinks are available at the dam restaurant.
It is advisable to take the first cable car in Zinal as it is a long day.
For this stage too, the exact mileage of the hike is that given at (7) Villa.

Zinal: this is where the national alpine skiing teams train in autumn, as soon as the snow covers the slopes.
