Grimentz - Vercorin

The starting point for this stage is at the Hotel Alpina.

(S) From the hotel, head towards the Bendolla cable car station.

(1) Take a one-way ticket to Bendolla and get off at the Bendolla mountain station.

(2) Heading north-west, take the path that crosses a stream. Follow the stream on its left bank until you reach a fork.

(3) Turn right towards the Grimentz Vijevy chairlift station. Pass this station and follow the track that leads to the Buvette d'Orzival.

(4) Continue left until you reach a trail junction.

(5) Stay on the left-hand trail and continue to another fork.

(6) Take the path on the right towards Col du Louché. Pass under the Lona ski lift and then the Becs de Bosson ski lift. Go around the lift and start the ascent of Col du Louché through scree.

(7) Begin a long, steep descent towards Lac du Louché, crossing a marshy area that borders the rocks. Follow the lake to the north until you reach a junction with a signpost.

(8) Head north towards Crêt du Midi. Cross a torrent and reach an intersection.

(9) Take the path on the right overlooking the Rèche. Cross the Rèche at an elevation of 2333 metres. Cross the marshy area known as Ar du Tsan. Continue to a crossroads.

(10) Leave the Crêt du Midi path on your right. Turn left and continue along the marsh until you reach a place called Le Pichioc. Cross the Rèche again. Keep right and you will come to another fork.

(11) Turn right towards the towpath. Descend the Réchy valley, following the Rèche on its left bank. You will come to another bridge over the Rèche.

(12) Cross the Rèche and arrive at the Lé refreshment bar.

(13) After the refreshment bar, begin the pleasant walk along the Bisse de Vercorin. Continue along this peaceful canal until you reach the Refuge du Bisse.

(14) From the refuge, follow the signs for "Chemin N°58" to the entrance to the village of Vercorin. At the first chalets, turn left towards the Route des Tsablots.

(15) Go down Route des Tsablots, enter Vercorin, pass the post office (street on the right) and arrive in front of the Hôtel des Mayens.

(16) Head towards the centre and after 70 metres, look for the Orzival cul-de-sac.

(17) At the end of the cul-de-sac, you will arrive at your accommodation for the day: the Hostellerie d'Orzival (E).

? Bendolla cable car. Take a one-way ticket from Grimentz to Bendolla: £7 (half price with the Anniviers Pass offered by hotels. (September 2022). Please note that the Bendolla cable car is closed on Wednesdays and Thursdays in September and October.
The elevation gain is around 820 metres and the distance is approximately 20.5 km.
