Tour of Pech-Céleyran - Moulin du Pech
A stroll starting the Coursan community hall between the Aude River and Pech-Céleyran. Lovely views of the plains, the Montagne Noire and the Pyrenees, from the peak. Passing by the Moulin du Pech mill.
Vierge de Cruque via the belvedere and Combe Mâle
The route consists of two small circular loops:
1 - Discover the town of Narbonne by climbing up to the orientation table via a pretty path. You will descend via the spectacular little road, the "Chemin de la Couleuvre".
2 - At the start of the Combe Mâle, at the foot of the wild climbing cliffs (50 routes according to the FFME). After a steep climb through the vegetation, you will descend gently towards the magical Vierge de Cruque.
You can climb up to discover the cave located under the statue.
The Œil Doux chasm
Short loop in the Montagne de la Clape with a visit to the listed site of L'Œil Doux and the Domaine Municipal de l'Oustalet. This is the equestrian centre of the town of Fleury with a mini farm and an eco-museum.
Circuit around the Vigie at the Chapelle des Auzils
A pleasant hike in the Massif de la Clape with beautiful views and a visit of the Chapel of Auzils and its marine cemetery.
⚠️ GPS tracking is essential for this hike! See reviews.
Discovering the Massif de la Clape
Just a few minutes from the beaches of Gruissan, the Massif de la Clape is an unspoilt haven of peace. This discovery trail winds its way through the vineyards of its renowned terroir, winding its way between rugged limestone cliffs and narrow canyons, where kermes oaks and Aleppo pines share the landscape. Finally, the Vigie and the Chapelle des Auzils offer hikers two exceptional views of the coastline... and far beyond.
The treasures of Les Caunes in the Massif de la Clape
You will discover the splendours of Mont des Caunes, located in the Clape massif opposite Gruissan. There are beautiful cliffs for climbing, caves to see and others to visit, a chasm and the small Rec gorge for geology enthusiasts. Magnificent views, ruins worthy of attention... The route is very poorly signposted on site.
A great orienteering, discovery and adventure course for young people who follow safety instructions.
Circular in La Clape
Plenty of great views of the coast, Gruissan, the ponds and Canigou. The route follows some of the marked trails but focuses on ascents and descents.
The Gouffre de l'Œil Doux via Saint-Pierre
At the gates of Saint-Pierre-la-Mer, this hike leads to the Gouffre de l'Œil Doux via the small hamlet of Saint-Pierre. Heath, pine trees and vineyards form the backdrop to this circuit, which retains its wild character despite running along the edge of the seaside resort in its final section. The magnificent view of the sea, the Canigou and the Albères mountains will quickly make you forget how close you are.
The Vires cliff starting from Les Aygouades
In my opinion, this is the most beautiful viewpoint in La Clape. On a clear day, you can see the hill of Sète, Mont-Saint-Loup in Agde, Valras, Saint-Pierre, Narbonne Plage, Gruissan, Port La Nouvelle and even Canigou.
The hike is in both Gruissan and Narbonne-Plage.
It can easily be adapted.
Following the problems encountered by other hikers, I have created a route that simplifies the hike, taking into account (constructive) criticism and the problems of burnt forest and flooded beaches. It is a little longer, at 3 km. You can find it here.
The Mills of Nissan
Nissan-lez-Enserune, its mills, its Parazols bridge, located on the Roman road, then on the royal road. Walk in a site offering a vast panorama, stretching from the mountains (Caroux, Montagne Noire) to the Mediterranean Sea.
From the Mandirac Lock to Sainte-Lucie Island
When staying in Gruissan, Sainte-Lucie Island is a must-see place for a walk, with the added bonus of swimming at the Vieille Nouvelle beach.
L'Ile Saint Martin and the Goules Trail
Travel across this ancient island with magnificent views of the ponds of Narbonne. A family-friendly hike in the scrubland and pine forests.
La Grande Capoulade
The Grande Capoulade trail allows you to discover La Clape from the Gruissan side, offering a double view of the Bages and Gruissan lagoons.
This hike follows the marked route on site, which is different from the one shown on the IGN map.
The Gruissan Pond, La Capoulade and the Barberousse Tower
Gruissan is a seaside resort in Languedoc that has managed to retain the charm of its roots. This hike takes you on a journey of discovery around the Étang de Gruissan with a walk along the water's edge where you can explore the wetland ecosystem. A trip to the foothills of the Clape massif around the Capoulade estate offers enchanting panoramic views. Finally, stroll through old Gruissan and visit the Barberousse Tower to round off a wonderful day.
From Bages to Les Pesquis
A short, easy loop west of the small village of Bages in the Aude department. This walk through wild olive trees, maritime pines and heathland offers splendid views of the lake and surrounding villages. You will discover varied landscapes with shaded areas, wide paths and very narrow trails.
