Access: reach Cuxac-d'Aude from Narbonne. After the bridge over the river, turn left into Rue du Château d'eau towards the car park and take the street on the left that leads to it.
(S/E) At the end of the car park, find a path to climb up onto the dyke.
(1) Take the path that descends on the other side. Walk westwards, between the Aude and the embankment. Approach the road to Sallèles d'Aude.
(2) Continue as close as possible to the Aude, under the dyke supporting the cycle path.
(3) Avoid the D118 by entering the Bois de la Bourgade, where a fitness trail has been created. Follow the curve of the river and approach the Bize-Minervois railway line, which is used solely for transporting goods for local businesses.
Avoid the cycle path on the right and follow the railway embankment.
(4) Pass under the Eiffel-type bridge and turn right to reach the Gailhousty site on the Canal de Jonction, which connects the Canal du Midi to the Aude.
(5) Take the time to visit the surrounding area (double lock, spillway, dry dock) (see the chapter: practical information) before setting off again under the dyke on the left bank of the canal towards Sallèles d'Aude. Walk along the vineyards for 400 m before reaching a crossing.
(6) Turn right and go under the railway line. Continue along the path between the vineyards, approaching the Canal d'Atterrissement de l'Étang de Capestang. At the corner of a plot, continue between the vineyard and the ditch until you reach the road, which crosses it via a bridge.
(7) At the end of the bridge, turn left onto the path running parallel to the canal for 800 metres until you reach an imposing ruin.
(8) Turn right onto Chemin de la Bourgade and join the access road to the Epadh, "le Château de la Bourgade". Leave the retirement home on your right and head towards the Sainte-Catherine dyke, which was built after the 1999 floods to protect the village. Walk along the dyke to the D118, then cross it carefully to reach the embankment of another protective structure on the banks of the Aude.
(9) Climb the embankment to reach the cycle path that has been built there. Away from the traffic, turn left to reach a crossroads you passed on the way out.
(2) Continue along the cycle path and return to the initial fork.
(1) Find the path back to the car park (S/E).
