Park in the car park along the D286 which runs along the eastern shore, about halfway along the length of Lac de la Mouche (table and benches).
(S) From the car park, cross the road, join the path (GR®) and follow it south, with the lake on your right. You will come to a fork in the path (both are GR®).
(1) Turn left, cross the road, and go up the street opposite. At the end, turn right, pass in front of the church, cross the street at the pedestrian crossing, and go up Rue du Haut. Continue for about 60 metres until you find the start of a path on the left, after a fire reserve and just before a small house.
Green and yellow PR® signposting.
(2) Look out for a PR® signpost indicating the path (not very well maintained). Go up this path, a little higher up, until you come to a track, then turn right. You will arrive at a bend in the D135.
(3) Turn right, pass the sign for Perrancey-les-Vieux-Moulins, then turn immediately left along Rue de la Ville Neuve. At the crossroads, continue left, then turn right at the fork, behind the houses. You will arrive at the Falaise de Perrancey car park.
(4) Continue along the gravel path. At the fork, keep right and head towards a relay antenna.
(5) Just before the antenna, turn right onto a path. After about 500 m, be careful at the crossroads and take the path on the left with a metal barrier (indicating the climbing site).
(6) Pass the climbing site and continue along the path. Be careful, after about 800 m, a path branches off to the left (not very well marked at the start).
(7) Climb up about 100 metres to reach the top of the cliffs. Head south, staying at the same level, until you reach a good path.
(8) There is a shortcut to rejoin the route at Les Vieux-Moulins (17). To take it, follow the path on the right.
Otherwise, turn left, then after a few dozen metres, take the path on the right. In a right-hand bend, follow the path on the left (which has a stop sign). About 50 m further on, turn right onto a grassy path, which leads to a marked trail. This comes out onto a tarmac road.
(9) Follow it to the right. At the crossroads, turn left onto the gravel path. Continue until you reach a stop sign at the crossroads with a road.
(10) Cross the road, continue straight ahead, passing a large shed on your left (shelter in case of storm). The path curves sharply to the left before a crossroads (IGN elevation 442), take the tarmac road on the right. At the next crossroads, turn right, keeping north-west, until the road curves to the right.
(11) In the bend, leave the road and continue straight ahead on the grassy path. You will come to a junction with another path, then an underground reservoir. Go down to the left until you reach a junction with a tarmac road.

(12) Turn right onto this path which descends towards the village. Arrive at the Fontaine Badin. Turn left, pass the wash house, then, at the corner of the street, take the path on the right, towards the church.
(13) Turn right in front of the church entrance (fountain on your left). Then take the next street on the left (D286, towards Vieux Moulin), then immediately left onto a lane that becomes a path to cross the Mouche river over a culvert. When you reach a street, turn left, and at the crossroads, turn left and then immediately right, almost opposite Rue de la Vallée. Walk up a few dozen metres until the street becomes a path. It turns right at the edge of the forest and becomes a GR® trail.
Red and white markings.
(14) Follow this well-marked GR® trail for about 1 km. Just after a left turn on the GR®, a trail branches off to the right.
Not marked
(15) This is a path signposted "Sentier écologique / Grotte" (Ecological trail / Cave). It is poorly maintained and cluttered with fallen trees, which you will have to climb over or go around, but it is nevertheless well marked and very interesting. It passes under or between the jagged cliffs of La Mouche and, further on, joins the GR® in a very damp area.
Red and white GR® markings
(16) The GR® initially follows a forest path, but very quickly leaves it on the left to follow a trail. Cross streams and wetlands, then follow this stream until it joins the Mouche. The GR® turns right between the pasture fences, then left, and arrives at Vieux-Moulins. Continue straight ahead to the crossroads, opposite a crucifix. The town hall is on your right (fountain and picnic area with benches under a canopy).
(17) Turn left at the next crossroads. Leave the D289, which branches off to the right, and take Rue de la Charrière. This becomes the D135 and climbs northwards onto the plateau. At the T-junction (IGN elevation 423), follow the road down to the right for about 700 m.
(18) The GR® then leaves the road on the left via a faint path that enters the woods. The GR® arrives at the access road to the lake from the D135. Leave it to reach the shore.
Blue and yellow PR® signposting
(19) Follow this good path which runs more or less along the lake shore, keeping the lake on your right. After a little over 2 km, pass through a beautiful lawn with picnic tables.
(20) A few hundred metres further on, you will see the Fontaine Légère (21), then a small tuff rock formation by the side of the path. Further on, the path joins the small Morgon road. Follow it. It turns right, crosses a small bridge and comes to a right-hand bend.
(22) Leave the tarmac at the bend and climb up the grassy path opposite. After about 100 metres, turn right and follow this path, which runs alongside fences behind the properties on the lake shore. You will arrive at a playground at the edge of a tarmac road.
Unmarked
(23) Take the road on the right, downhill, to reach the town hall of Saint-Ciergues. Continue downhill on the right along Rue du Muret, then Rue du Lac. At the beginning of Rue du Lac, look for a path that descends to the left towards the dam.
(24) It quickly leads to the end of the dam. Take the very narrow pavement on the right-hand side of the road, on the dam. At the other end of the dam, turn right onto the path that runs alongside the D286. Return to the car park where you started (S/E).
