Description of the walk

The walk starts in front of the Musée des Métiers du Bois, 395 A at La Place, in Labaroche. The route has been altered and is slightly different from the one shown in Passion Vosges.

(S/E) Take the D11.1 to the right until the end of the first bend, where a path (marked with a Yellow Cross) veers off and climbs to the left.

(1) Take this path; shortly afterwards, it joins the junction of the Route de la Rochette and the D11.

(2) Take the small road opposite (marked with a Green Ring and Yellow Cross) which climbs to the left of a house.

(3) At the next junction, continue straight on until you reach the hamlet of La Trinque.

(4) Turn right onto the path marked with a Yellow Saltire, towards a modern housing development. Pedestrians are permitted to pass; the no-entry restriction applies only to vehicles. Continue along the path marked with a Yellow Saltire, which climbs straight up into the forest towards the Château du Petit Hohnack.

(5) At Le Petit Hohnack, enter the upper courtyard through a arched gate. Use the same gate to exit and head down the path on the right, which crosses the track you came up on. Turn left, then right. Continue down the slope, straight ahead, following the Green Ring trail, until you reach a good path.

(6) Follow it to the right. It passes through a beautiful Scots pine forest. On leaving the forest, continue along the path marked Green Ring, which passes under a high-voltage power line and leads to the first houses at a wayside shrine. Continue to the right (Blue Saltire) until you reach the junction from the outward journey.

(3) Turn left onto the small road (marked Green Ring, Yellow Cross) taken on the way out, until you reach the junction with the D11.1

(2) Cross the D11.1 and follow the path opposite, descending to the left (marked with a Yellow Cross) towards La Place and the Woodworking Museum.

(1) At the junction with the D11.1, follow this road to the right until you reach the museum (S/E).

First of all, thank you for this route. It was exactly what we wanted to do that day. A good balance between nature and exploring the village (residential area). Le petit Honack is an interesting spot. There’s a bit of tarmac, but that’s mentioned in the description. Three comments:
- there is no car park at the starting point. 🅿️ Available between points 3 and 4.
- The housing estate mentioned after point 7 is off-limits (private property sign). Leave the path and head straight to point 9 to reach Le Petit Honack.
- The field between points 1 and 2 is private The owner has given us permission, but this could change.
