The starting point is the car park in front of the Labaroche Woodworking Museum. This is the nerve centre of village life. You can take advantage of this location to recharge your batteries at the local shops before or after your walk. If you are coming by bus from Colmar (line 015), simply get off at the "La Place" stop.
(S/E) To start the hike, go around the museum on the right and head towards the Sanio company, where you will find the first yellow ring marker to follow. Walk along the company (on your right) and, at the right-hand bend in the road, turn left. The path joins a small road; go up to the junction with the D11 at a place called Le Chêne. Turn left and cross (pedestrian crossing).
(1) Turn right, ignore the road on the left and leave the Yellow Ring markings to follow the Green Ring markings on the right. Enjoy the first panoramic views to the west towards Orbey. Continue straight ahead until you reach the junction, marked with a stone cross, in the left-hand bend in the road.
(2) Turn right. This is the start of the climb to the Château du Petit Hohnack, still following the Green Ring markings. This is also where it gets more challenging.
If you prefer to skip this section, there is a first alternative route here that takes you directly to the crossing point (6). You won't be disappointed, as a magnificent horse riding arena and a beautiful panorama accompany you along this short alternative route.
The path passes under high-voltage power lines. About 150 m further on, turn left to go around the summit to the west and south until you reach a crossroads at the edge of the forest.
(3) Turn 90° to the left. The path narrows and becomes impassable for vehicles, and the slope becomes steeper. Head north for about 150 m to reach the next junction with a path marked with a yellow sign.
(4) Thisis your last chance to reach the Petit Hohnack car park (6). If you don't take it now by turning right, you'll be forced to visit this magnificent castle, which has some wonderful surprises in store for you.
Turn left to begin skirting the summit to the west (marked with a green ring and yellow horse). The slope levels out as you approach the castle.
(5) Château du Petit Hohnack. Well done for your efforts, you have just completed the uphill section of our walk. Take the time to admire the view.
After your visit, finish the detour to the east and return to the previous crossroads.
(4) Turn left, the path widens and descends to the Petit Hohnack car park at a four-way crossroads (this is the meeting point for those who have finished the short descent from the castle and those who have taken one of the alternative routes).
(6) Take the path on the left, heading north, still following the Anneau Vert markers. Pass under the high-voltage lines, cross a crossroads with a calvary, and keep going in the same direction to come out, on a steep descent, at the stop sign before a bend in the D11.
(7) Cross the road, taking care to watch out for cars travelling at speed. Take the path directly opposite after the bend. It branches off to the left and rejoins the D11.
There are no markings for the end of the route. Turn right, downhill, and walk very carefully along the road until you reach thefirst street on the left to reach the car park, which you will soon see (S/E).
