Park near the Maria auf dem Rain chapel.
(S/E) Opposite the chapel, turn left to go down Rue de la Chapelle (blue round sign) and then Rue de Rammersmatt. Turn left and then right into Rue des Charmes (marked with a yellow triangle). At the end of the street, take the path that goes up to Weierle (blue cross) and then the path splits. Turn right uphill and, after passing through a wooden gate, take the path on the left. This path climbs and leads to the Roderen water reservoir.
(1) Turn right towards the forest in the direction of Teufelsgrund, following the red cross markings in the forest. Be careful to take the path on the left, which will take you to the Rammersmatt road, where there are a few tables and benches.
(2) Cross the road and climb up opposite to reach the Teufelsgrund pass, still following the Red Cross markings.
(3) At the pass, leave the Red Cross markings and follow the Blue Cross markings to Weierlé, where you will reach the Baumann shelter.
(4) Continue along the Stolperfad trail marked with yellow crosses. Pass by the wild boar ponds, continue along this path through the forest at the next intersection and you will reach the wooden Virgin of the Woodcutters.
(5) Take the wide path marked with a yellow triangle on the left, which leads to the Hochburg shelter.
(6) Continue gently downhill through the forest towards Rammersmatt. You will reach a place called Spannplatz.
(7) Quick left/right turn, then the path splits. Take the right-hand path towards Thann and Rammersmatt. The markings change to a yellow triangle and a red-white-red rectangle. Continue along this wide path, passing the Rammersmatt water reservoir. Cross the D36 road, pass the farm and you will arrive at the sign for the botanical trail. Continue to the junction with an unmarked path, where you will find a shelter for animals.
(8) Stay on the left-hand path which descends through fields, then continue along the path through the small wood, passing under the high-voltage line and making a final descent into the wood before arriving at the starting car park, the Maria auf dem Rain Chapel (S/E).
