How to get there: From Saint-Louis, head towards La Rivière via the RN5. At the first roundabout, take the first exit. A few metres further on, you’ll pass a delicatessen; immediately after that, take the first left. Carry on to the end of the lane, then turn left. Continue along the road until it ends at a roundabout. Take the first exit onto Route Hubert Delisle (D3). Carry on straight ahead until you reach the ‘Rue des Fiagues’ bus stop, then turn left at the next junction onto Chemin Bois Noirs.
(S/E) Continue uphill along Chemin Bois Noirs. Once you’ve passed the houses, the track becomes increasingly potholed. After passing the houses, ignore the dirt track branching off to the right before the hairpin bends and carry on straight ahead. Enjoy the occasional panoramic views over the plains as you climb and reach the third hairpin bend.
(1) At the third hairpin bend, take the dirt track branching off to the right. Cross the Ravine des Fiagues, then turn left at the first junction. The path quickly becomes overgrown with grass. At the barrier made of wooden planks, turn left.
(2) At the end of the track, turn right towards Chemin Letchi. Pass a turn-off on the left, then turn left at the end of the track and follow it for a few metres.
(3) At the end of the hairpin bend, take the first dirt track on the left.
Please note: the track may be overgrown! If it is too overgrown, see the diversion details in the practical information section.
Follow the track uphill; after a straight stretch, take a sharp right-hand turn. Pass a turning on the left and, a few metres further on, turn left onto Chemin Letchi, which you’ll follow until the next junction.
(4) Turn right onto Chemin du Grand Détour. Just a few more bends before you’re treated to a magnificent view of the ocean and the plains! Follow the track downhill to the next junction (first letterbox).
(5) Take the Chemin du Brulé track, which starts on the right. Stay on the same track, which runs almost level, until you reach Chemin Letchis, then follow it to the right. After the left-hand bend at the small gully, continue to the next junction with Chemin Commera.
(6) Follow the first dirt track on the left, which starts near a house. At the first junction, turn left.
(7) At the next junction, turn left onto Chemin de Coméra. At the next three junctions, ignore the inconspicuous dirt tracks branching off to the left and turn right instead. Then continue to the end of the track and carry on straight ahead to return to the starting point (S/E).
