The waterfalls on the Chemin d'Espagne

A beautiful hike in the Uustou Valley, which passes through the hamlets of L'Echart and Ossèse, with numerous waterfalls (especially in spring). As a bonus, you can see the superb Lastien waterfall. A very beautiful hike with no difficulty. Most of the route is covered by vegetation (pleasant in strong sunlight).

Description of the walk

Park in the car park (2 km after Ustou).

(S/E) The start is just above the car park. With your back to the car park, turn right, then left twice onto the path that climbs alongside the Ossèse. At the hamlet of L'Échart, stay on the path overlooking the torrent and you will arrive at the Pas de l'Echart.

(1) Take the road opposite, then the track that follows it without crossing the stream and ignoring the junctions. This track leads to the famous stone bridge, which you must cross, then climb up opposite until you reach the road

(2) Cross the road and take the path that climbs up opposite. Continue along the stony track, which gradually narrows to become a small path that widens again as it overlooks the gorges. You will arrive at the hamlet of Ossèse.

(3) After rejoining the road, take the path opposite which climbs through meadows, crossing two streams. You will arrive at a fork.

(4) Take the path on the right that runs alongside the stream. The path on the left is the continuation of the GRT58, which leads to Port de Marterat. You will arrive at the foot of the waterfall.

(5) To return, take the same path until you reach the road.

(2) Turn right and follow the road downhill to a path.

(6) Leave the road and follow the path that climbs up to the right (there are numerous gates that must be closed behind you). You will arrive at a bridge.

(7) Cross it and go left to join a road.

(8) Follow this road, turning left. Cross the hamlet of Stillon.

(9) Cross the bridge and take the road on the right which leads to the car park (S/E).

Hello, everyone.
A lovely, pleasant hike with plenty of shaded sections and beautiful views of the surrounding peaks. Good description of the hike, you can't get lost, the waterfalls aren't very full at the end of August, but the route is pleasant. Thank you for sharing.
