Tréduder and its streams

The commune of Tréduder is bounded by three streams: to the west, the Roscoat; to the south, the Dour Plat, which flows into the Yar, marking the commune’s eastern boundary. This walk takes you along these streams, but numerous small streams feed into them, making certain sections very wet in spring.

Description of the walk

Parking is available in the municipal car park on Route d’Armor.

(S/E) On leaving the car park, take the street on the left towards the church and the cemetery.

(1) Continue straight on to leave the village. Take the first road on the right. After a bend to the left, the road becomes a path at “An Ividic”. Walk due north. The path veers north-west, following the Roscoat stream. When you reach the access road to “Milin Promadec”, continue straight ahead on the path, keeping to the stream.

(2) Ignore the path on the left and continue along the stream. The path widens at the old Giglou Mill (ruins). Continue due north. Follow the same path.

(3) When the path takes a sharp right-hand bend, carry on straight ahead. You’ll reach the access point to Roscoat Castle (private property). Turn right and, when you reach a wayside cross on your right, head down the path on the left.

(4) At the fork, turn left and follow the path uphill to reach Guerâllen. When you reach the road, turn right and take the first road on the left signposted "Route de la Voie Romaine". After 100m, follow the Route de Toul Trevian on the right, which leads to the D22. Take this road on the left for 100 metres.

(5) Before a road sign reading “Slippery Road”, follow the path to the right. It leads to another path that runs alongside the Yar stream southwards against the flow. Continue along this path. Ignore a path on the right that crosses the stream and continue straight ahead. You will reach the access road to Crec’h Naon.

(6) Turn right. On the road, turn left and, 30 metres further on, take the path on the right (due south).

(7) Follow the Route du Veuzit to the left for 100m, then turn right at the junction. When you reach Ar Veuzit, turn left and continue straight on, heading due east until you reach a crossroads.

(8) Circular route of 1.25 km (see note in practical information) Take the road on the right. At the next crossroads, continue to the right and head towards Kernéguès. The path descends towards the Dour Plat.

(9) At a sharp left-hand bend leading down to the stream, take a small path on the right (barely visible due to the vegetation). This path climbs back up to Penguily and the crossroads.

(8) This time, at the crossroads, continue to the right. Follow the Route de Toul an Hay (D22) to the left.

(10) After the first houses in Vespéric, follow the road to the right. At the end of the road, turn left to reach the junction you passed on the way there.

(1) Turn left, go round the cemetery and then, after the church, continue to the right to reach the car park (S/E).

Notes

Reminder: As mentioned in the introduction, some sections may be very wet, or even flooded, following a period of rain, making certain areas impassable.

At (8), walkers are invited to follow a 1.25km circular route to discover, on the one hand, the commune’s third stream, the Dour Plat, and, on the other, to walk along the bottom of a rather spectacular sunken path, with vertical walls over three metres high and very little natural light even in broad daylight.

A very pleasant route on a lovely autumn’s day. There are a few muddy patches near the streams, but they’re not a problem. The tarmac sections are on quiet roads. A very pretty route, suitable for everyone, with just a fair climb as you leave the banks of the Yar.

A lovely walk; the paths are very well maintained, with some beautiful sunken lanes – I’d happily do it again.

Hello, we did this route in early March. There’s a car park at the start, making it easy to park. The paths are lovely, though a bit muddy in places, especially along the rivers. The sunken paths are really deep – they’re quite high in places. There’s a spot near the castle after point 3 that’s covered in flowers and wild garlic. The view of Saint-Michel-en-Grève beach before point 5 is stunning. We were already familiar with some of the paths along the rivers as they form part of other walks, but not this route. If we do it again, we’ll complete a circular route at point 9 in the opposite direction – there we felt we were retracing our steps a bit. Similarly, at point 10, we followed the route but it took us back along the same roads.

Route completed on 17 October 2020. The weather was fine.
The paths were muddy, but there were no problems with them being too wet.
As soon as we left the small road after Tréduder, we found ourselves on sunken paths, each one more beautiful than the last.
We often walk through beautiful valleys, following two streams.
Some of the trees are magnificent.
And such peace and quiet.
No issues with the route I’d downloaded onto my smartphone.
We made a slight detour from the route. At point 4, we carried on straight ahead along the path that descends to Saint Michel beach, and took a break in the sun.
We then walked along the beach and headed back up the first road on the left, rejoining the route at Toul ar Har.
As a guide, walking at a leisurely pace, it took us 3 hours and 9 minutes.
The countryside is very beautiful at this time of year.
Before reaching point 8, there are some lovely views of the countryside in the distance.
In short, don’t hesitate – it’s a lovely walk.

A moderately difficult route, though there are some steep sections through the woodland.
At the moment, there are some relatively muddy sections, so it is advisable to wear wellington boots. The appeal of this walk lies in the variety of deciduous and coniferous trees; the magnificent autumn colours; the rivers and wildlife – it’s brilliant.
