Before reaching the Cedar Forest, near Bonnieux, stop near a sign indicating the start of the trail near the Philippe Tower.
(S/E) Leave the trailhead and take the Route des Cèdres on the right, heading downhill to the crossroads with the small road on the right.
(1) Take this small road on the right until the next crossroads.
(2) At the next junction of three small roads, take the road on the far right marked "Bertet". Continue along this road until you reach the Chambarelle estate.
(3) Continue along the path marked in yellow. Cross the Rigord valley on this beautiful, easy path, which offers beautiful views of the northern Luberon and Mont Ventoux. You will come to a fork in the path.
(4) Take the left-hand path, still marked in yellow. You will come to another fork where a sign points to Bonnieux on the left and Lourmarin on the right. Turn right onto a very steep track. You will reach a place called Cadassès where another sign points to Lourmarin and Lauris.
(5) Turn right towards Lauris on theGR® trail that you have joined. Pass several cairns marking small peaks with magnificent views of the southern Luberon. Continue on theGR® trail to reach another crossroads.
(6) Turn completely left to continue on theGR® which descends into the Vallon des Sèyes. It is a wide, very stony but easy path. Pass a cistern and continue down the GR®. You will arrive in front of the old Valbigonce oak tree... of which only a stump and a sign remain.
(7) Continue along theGR®97to reach a huge property, Valbigonce.
(8) At the corner of the property, turn right to leave the Lauris road and head back up towards the Vallon du Sautadou. At first, this is a road that leads to the entrance of the Combe du Sautadou.
(9) At the fork, before a cistern, we turn onto the path on the left.
(10) Continue through majestic rock formations and cliffs. Magnificent views. You will arrive at the fork between the path leading to the cedar forest and the path leading back to the Tour Philippe.
(11) Turn right towards the Philippe Tower. Continue climbing along the path. More magnificent rock formations. You will reach a hairpin bend where you will find a crossroads. Turn completely right, leaving the small path straight ahead.
Shortly afterwards, leave the main path and take a narrow path on the left which joins the wide path further on. You will arrive near a magnificent house made up of traditional buildings and several large drystone shelters.
(12) Continue along the wide path, which takes you past the Tour Philippe.
Take the small path that climbs slightly to the left to return to the car park where you started (S/E).
