Updated on 08/07/2020: Please note! The section of this hike between (3) and (6) is closed from March to October (to protect Bonelli's eagles).
Park in the Forêt des Cèdres car park in Bonnieux.
(S/E) Follow the wide track under the cedars for about 1 km until you reach the cistern on the left of the track.
(1) Take a small path that branches off to the left of the track. This path is poorly marked but well defined and descends gently under the trees.
(2) At a fork with a smaller trail, keep to the wider trail on the right and continue to the cliffs of La Roque des Bancs. Follow the cliffs, turning slightly to the left. You will see several small caves and a few stone protective walls. Very pretty views to the south.
(3) Just opposite the Bergerie, which is only a stone shelter, leave the main path by descending to the left. Be careful, as the start of the path is only marked by a small cairn and the descent is very steep. It is a good idea to hold on to the vegetation to avoid slipping. From time to time, you will find old blue markings, but it is best to rely on the trail.
(4) At the bottom of the slope, when the vegetation becomes denser, look for the blue arrow pointing up to the left. Continue along the hillside, following the clearly visible trail with a few blue markings, until you reach the superb Résistants cave.
(5) Very large and beautiful, it is worth exploring. There is a lovely picnic spot around the cave.
After the bend at the cave, continue along the cliff. Several other caves and splendid landscapes are in view. The blue markings are more numerous and skirt around the cliffs. Follow them carefully. The climb is uneven with false flats but also steep passages, though without any technical difficulty.
(6) After a final steep climb, you will arrive in the heath vegetation where you will follow a well-marked but poorly signposted trail. Then rejoin the path from the beginning.
(2) Turn right and follow this path back to the cistern.
(1) Continue straight ahead on the main track to return to the starting point (S/E).
