To get to the starting point, go to Saint-Laurent en Granvaux. Heading towards Morez, take the D437 towards Lac des Rouges Truites and drive for 6 km to the hamlet of Les Thévenins. Immediately after the church, opposite the town hall, turn right to reach the Chalet du Bugnon, nestled on the edge of the lake and the forest.
(S/E) With your back to the chalet, head north-east to go around the bog and the lake on your left. The path alternates between wooded areas and meadows. Continue until you reach a cattle grid consisting of cylindrical bars anchored to the ground to prevent livestock from passing through.
(1) Just before the cattle grid, take a short detour to the left along the grassy path to the small shed to admire the bog around you. Turn back and continue to the left, crossing the cattle grid. Cross the small wood. A little further on, after the wood, you will come to a large fenced meadow on your left. After the small bridge, look for a small opening in the fence that will allow you to access the meadow.
(2) Follow the grassy path that is still visible, then walk along the white stones. You will then arrive at the entrance to a new meadow, which may be blocked by an electric wire depending on the time of year (be sure to put it back in place if necessary). Continue towards the small wooden bridge that crosses the river. Continue straight ahead up the tree-lined track.
(3) At the T-junction, turn left and walk along, admiring the view over the entire wetland. Continue along this scenic path, which will take you to the hamlet of Les Thévenins. When you reach the D437, turn left and walk past the old cheese dairy, taking care to watch out for traffic.
(4) After the cheese dairy, at the first houses, take the small road on the left to reach the old tram station. Turn left at the intersection to reach the Chalet du Bugnon and the car park where you started (S/E).
