The route starts from the small car park located just past the bridge over the canal as you come from Évran. You can park your car here (toilets and drinking water nearby).
(S/E) To start, cross the bridge towards Évran then take the towpath just to your right. Follow the canal to the La Roche lock.
(1) Continue along the same bank and cross the small bridge over a branch of the canal. Stay on this path until you reach the Mottay Lock (2 km). Here, take a moment to admire the surroundings, where the sound of flowing water blends with the birdsong.
(2) Cross the small bridge just after the lock, turn right and walk alongside the mill to the metal footbridge. Cross the footbridge carefully (the surface is slippery in wet weather). The path then climbs and winds its way between a woodland and a field. At the junction (100m after the lock), turn left and continue uphill (a sharp bend to the right) to pass in front of the Château de la Touche.
(3) From there, continue almost straight ahead downhill. Take in the scenery. Pass through Les Bouillons. At the end of the road, turn right towards Château de Beaumanoir, which soon comes into view on the left.
(4) Carry on and, at the end of this road, turn left to pass in front of the castle gate.
(5) Take the path (no entry sign) on the right which leads down towards Évran (you can clearly see the bell tower).
At the end of this path, turn left, passing the rubbish bins by the main road. Follow this road on the other side to your right (a small path running alongside the road) which leads straight back to the car park (S/E).
