Car park: at the oratory at the entrance to Rimbach-près-Guebwiller on the right-hand side of the road
(S/E) At the bottom of the car park and after about 20 metres on the left-hand side of the road, take the wide path marked with red and white rectangles towards the Col du Peternit. Cross the bridge and ignore the path coming from the left.
(1) About 50 metres from Col du Peternit and its many intersections, take a narrow path (trench) on the left, still marked with red and white rectangles, heading west towards Munsteraeckerle, climbing steadily. Pass two paths on your right, then, at a small meadow and bench, ignore the path dipping down to the left. You will come to a crossroads.
(2) At Munsteraeckerle (shelter), pass two paths on the right and go to the left of a large oak tree in the middle of the intersection. Cut across the wide path after the oak tree and head uphill opposite, following the red and white rectangle signs towards Ebeneck/Judenhut. After crossing a pasture in the middle of ferns and broom, cut across a wide carriageway and continue straight ahead on the path towards Judenhut marked with red and white rectangles. 50 m further up, cross a wide path and follow the path marked with red and white rectangles straight ahead. After a hundred metres or so, you will rejoin the wide path.
(3) Do not continue on the path opposite, but turn left onto the carriage road towards Judenhut. After about 1 km of gentle uphill walking. Just before reaching the pass, ignore a path on the left leading downhill towards Rimbach direct/Glasshütte and a little further on, still on the left, a path marked with a blue triangle and red and white rectangle towards Glasshütte via Schtolperpfad. Arrive at the Judenhut Pass.
(4) At the pass, turn left, pass the sign for the Club Vosgien and Fontaine Jean Schlumberger trails and take the wide path marked with a blue cross on the left towards Firstacker. A few metres further on, leave a path marked with a red and white rectangle on the right, which climbs towards the Grand Ballon. Continue following the Blue Cross and the direction of Firstacker/Sudel. Leave a path on the right at a green water protection sign and continue following the Blue Cross. After crossing several small streams and after a left turn, you will come to an intersection that you must not miss.
(5) Leave the Blue Cross path and take a path veering left downhill, marked with a red and white rectangle, towards Glasshütte. This path joins a wide path coming from the left. Do not take this path, which makes a sharp left turn, but continue straight ahead through a fir forest, guided by the red and white rectangle. At the bottom of the descent, cross the path you encountered earlier and join the tarmac road (visible a little further down). Join the asphalt road and head towards the Glasshütte farmhouse inn.
(6) Pass in front of the farmhouse inn and find a gate leading to the pasture below on a path marked with a blue triangle/red and white rectangle. Descend the pasture via a path that curves widely. At the intersection with a path coming from the right, continue downhill towards a solar panel at the bottom of the pasture.
(7) At the solar panel, turn right onto the path marked with a blue triangle and red and white rectangle, leaving the two paths in the middle of the hairpin bend to the left. After about 150 metres, descend into a second hairpin bend to the left and continue for a few dozen metres.
(8) Leave the path continuing opposite towards Rimbach and turn right towards Diefenbach (Blue Triangle marker). Cross a small bridge. 150 metres after the bridge, leave a path on the left going downhill and continue on the Blue Triangle path towards Diefenbach. Join a wide carriageway.
(9) Take this path towards Diefenbach on the left in a wide curve. Go around the Diefenbach inn and take the Blue Triangle marked path uphill to the right of an asphalt road. After a short climb, you will reach an intersection just after a no-entry sign.
(10) Take the left-hand path marked with a red and white rectangle towards Rimbach/Peternit. Ignore the three paths on the right. In a bend, ignore a path leading off to the left. After a house (on the left of the path), continue downhill towards the Col du Peternit. 100 m further down, you will come to a junction.
(11) Ignore the path on the right leading up to Holzwasen and immediately after, a path leading downhill on the left. Continue on the main path marked with a red and white rectangle. Stay on this main path downhill until you reach the road, ignoring the paths on the left and right. Cross the road carefully and walk up a few metres to return to the car park (S/E).
Beautiful weather, but quite windy and cool for this lovely walk.
