Description of the walk

The walk starts at the car park of the Bambesch small structure (PO), accessible via the road between Bambiderstroff and Zimming.

(S/E) Head towards the gate leading to the Bambesch small structure without going through it. Opposite the gate, take the small path on the right which crosses some of the fitness trail equipment, running alongside the small access road which you will join 200 m further on to follow it westwards to the Stop sign.

(1) Once you reach the road linking Zimming to Bambiderstroff, take it to the left for 30 m, cross it and take the small path on the right that leads into the forest. Follow the yellow markings carefully. Cross the more or less tarmac-surfaced junction where several forestry tracks meet and take the small grassy path directly opposite, passing to the left of a picnic table. Follow the yellow markings to the farm track which you reach at the edge of the forest.

(2) Turn right, leaving the yellow markings, to go down this track and continue slightly uphill through a cultivated field (a registered track sometimes ploughed over by the farmer but which remains marked). Continue along the track which passes through a hedge, cross a small meadow and go through a row of fir trees, after which turn immediately left, continuing along the edge of the forest, heading south. On leaving the forest, cross another field (a registered track, sometimes ploughed over) and reach the copse opposite, slightly lower down.

(3) A little further down (at a viewpoint), follow the grassy path which turns sharply left through young woodland. Continue along the path as it winds downwards, taking a 90° turn to the right, then 90° to the left, then another 90° to the right and left, towards Bambiderstroff (wind turbines visible behind the village).

(4) When you reach a tarmac section, before the first houses, take the stony path on the right and follow the yellow markings to the D74. Follow the D74 for 200 m towards the village, then take the stony path on the right (GR®®5G) at the speed bump on the road, heading towards La Roseraie and Steinbesh. After about 1 km of climbing, continue on theGR®®5Gtowards Guinglange (leaving the path to La Roseraie). Once out of the woods, continue along the path through the fields. A panoramic view opens up on your right, offering a glimpse of Mont Saint-Pierre in the distance.

(5) At the crossroads, take the tarmac path on the left towards the Chapelle Saint-Léonard. At the chapel, turn left onto a red schist path. Further on, leave a path on your right that disappears into the forest and turn sharply left. After 200m, at the entrance to the forest, ignore a second path on the right and continue straight ahead. At a crossroads, continue straight ahead and, further on, ignore a path on your left. Follow the yellow markings.

(6) Turn onto the path on the right (yellow markings) and continue to the road, which you will cross to take the forest track opposite towards Einseling and Stocken. Pass under the start of a high-voltage power line and continue straight on, following a wire fence. View of a bunker down below on the left. When you reach an open area (end of the fence), at the picnic table, continue straight on along the path for about 200 m.

(7) Where the path makes a hairpin bend to the left, leave it and go down the wooden log steps, still following the yellow markings. When you reach a path running perpendicular to this, turn right, then further on, take the forest path on the right until you reach the road.

(8) Turn right onto the small road and follow it for about 500 m, passing the first wind turbine, then at the road sign indicating a roundabout, turn left onto the wind turbine track towards the aerodrome and the Chapel of Notre-Dame de la Paix for about 130 m.

(9) You now have two options:
- Follow the track on the left, passing by the four wind turbines, until you reach the D74.
- Leave the marked path and take the grassy track up towards the blown-up bunker. Caution: stay on the path to avoid the ‘pigtails’ (danger!). Once you reach the structure, continue along the path which descends slightly on the other side of the ridge. View over the Warndt valley. Then, following this path, climb back up to the ridge to reach the Einseling car park.

(10) At the bunker, follow the Blue Disc markings and go down the steps to reach a farm track below, which you take to the left, leaving the Blue Disc route. Once back on the ridge, turn right onto the wind turbine track, which you will leave a little further on by turning right after a small bunker to rejoin the Blue Disc markings. Pass under a small “vegetation tunnel” to rejoin the wind turbine track, which you follow to the right until you reach the D74.

(11) Cross the D74 and continue along the path opposite, between the motocross track and the last wind turbine.

(12) Leave the path leading down to La Clé des Champs on your left and continue straight on towards Le Bambesch, passing by the flying club. After passing the grassy landing strip hidden behind some bushes, turn left to reach the car park at the Le Bambesch starting point (S/E).
