In the footsteps of Saint Martin from La Chapelle-Blanche-Saint-Martin

The paths of La Chapelle-Blanche-Saint-Martin will take you in the footsteps of the Bishop of Tours, whose name the commune took in 1918. Across fields and through small hamlets, set off in search of a miraculous fountain.

Description of the walk

Park on Place Jasnin.

Yellow markings (follow signs for Loop No. 1)

(S/E) From the square, head towards the RD50 and cross it at the pedestrian crossing to continue along Route de la Liberté towards Vou and Loches. After passing the park on your left, turn left towards the stadium.

(1) At the end, continue along the path beside a business and turn right onto the first path through the fields to reach the D97.

(2) Turn right onto the road and, after a good hundred metres, turn left onto a path. Continue straight ahead, skirting the woods, and follow the path to the left until you reach the hamlet of La Baronnière.

(3) Cross the hamlet then turn right between the houses to continue along a path. At the end, turn left along the trees and then go up to the right towards the hamlet of La Folleterie.

(4) Continue along the road and, at the crossroads, continue along the road opposite to reach La Girardière.

(5) Stay on this road, which winds through the hamlet, before turning right and going straight downhill. At the end, continue along the path opposite through the fields and pass by the Fontaine Saint-Martin fountain.

(6) Cross a road and continue along the path opposite, which turns to the right. At the end, after crossing a small stream, turn right onto the path. Continue along the hedge, then turn left to rejoin the road.

(7) Continue straight ahead on the road until you reach the junction with the RD50. Here, take care to turn left and then right onto the road towards Les Méraux. Take the path on the left in the bend and continue across the fields until you reach the crossroads.

(8) Turn onto the path on the right and rejoin the road at the end.

(9) Turn left onto the road, then turn right at the first crossroads. Continue along the second road on the left to pass Les Bodineries.

(10) Continue along the path. At the first crossroads, continue straight ahead until you reach the hamlet of La Place.

(11) Turn left and continue along the path that extends the road through the fields. Follow it as it turns right to reach the end.

(12) Turn right and continue straight up to the hamlet of La Basse Garauderie. Continue along the road until you reach a four-way junction.

(13) At the crossroads, continue along the road opposite, then turn right onto a white path. Follow it through the woods to the end at the waste collection centre.

(14) After the waste collection centre, continue on the D97 to the left, cross a road (marked by a cross) and then turn right onto the road called Allée des Grenouilles.

(15) At the end, turn left onto the path. Walk along the woods and continue on the second path on the left. At the end, turn right to return to your starting point.

A very beautiful hike with stunning, magical landscapes. The route is marked throughout, with some very old boundary stones. A relaxing stop in the hamlet of Laplace. A very beautiful pilgrimage.
