Description of the walk

Departure: Town hall, Rue Agnès Sorel

Parking: Car park behind the town hall

Blue signposts

(S/E) Walk up Rue Agnès Sorel towards Loches. Turn right at the first street. You will arrive at the intersection with Route de Loches, Les Maisons Neuves.

(1) Continue straight ahead on a path, then turn right at the end of the road towards La Cailletière.

(2) Once you have passed the few houses in La Cailletière, turn left across the fields. At the intersection (elevation 114), continue straight ahead on the slightly offset path. At the crossroads, turn right onto the D21.

(3) There, turn left, then right, towards La Trampaudrie.

(4) Follow the road to the end, then turn left onto the path behind the first shed. Continue straight ahead on this path until you reach the woods.

(5) Turn left after the small woods and enter the grove. At the intersection, turn right and continue to the road. There, turn right. At the crossroads, turn left towards the hamlet of La Courtillonnerie.

(6) After the hamlet, take the path on the left, in front of Bertin, towards the woods. At the intersection, turn right and continue to the edge of the woods.

(7) Then turn right to go back up towards the road, keeping left until you reach the D95. Turn left again to re-enter the woods.

(8) Turn right and stay on this path. At the crossroads, turn right along the hedge, then go up to the left after the stream before rejoining the road.

(9) Once on the road, turn right, then left at the intersection. At the next crossroads, turn right to reach the village of Dolus-le-Sec and your parking spot (S/E).

Near Dolus-le-Sec is the village of Chanceaux-près-Loches. Nestled in the small valley of the Chantereine stream, it will charm you with its19th-century brick and stone castle, its richly decorated church and its astonishing hunters' chalet. The commune is also known for hosting a major literary event every year at the end of August. Formerly known as the Forest of Books, it became Les Écrivains chez Gonzague after the death of Gonzague Saint-Bris. It continues to attract dozens of authors and thousands of visitors every year.
