Description of the walk

Departure: Place du 11 Novembre, Tauxigny-Saint-Bauld.
Parking: Champ de Foire car park, on the outskirts of the village towards Saint-Branchs.
Markings: Blue

(S/E) With the church on your left, walk up Rue de la Liberté, passing to the right of the town hall. At the top of the street, walk up the pavement on your left and arrive at the intersection before the roundabout.

(1) Turn left to join the path. Cross the Ligoret nature reserve and, at the end of the path, you will arrive at a place called Ligoret.

(2) Continue left on the road, then right on the path at the intersection to reach a fork.

(3) Continue along the path, turning left at the three-way junction. At the junction with Chemin du Moulin Neuf, continue straight ahead, following the Échandon river more or less closely, until you reach the road leading to Richêne.

(4) Continue along the road, following the path, alongside the poplar trees. Stay on the road to return to the plateau and reach the hamlet of Malabry.

(5) At the crossroads, turn right and continue to the edge of the hamlet. At the last house, on a bend in the road to the left, take the path on the right, between the fields and the woods. Continue straight ahead on this path, following it to stay on the edge of the woods. After several bends to the right and then to the left, you will return to the original path.

(3) There, turn left to return along the same path you came on, in the opposite direction, until you reach the starting point (S/E).

Worth a visit

Astronomical Observatory and Planetarium
To the north of the village of Tauxigny, an astronomical observatory stands in the middle of a meadow. With its two domes, it allows observation of the night sky and houses the Touraine Astronomical Society. Open to the public on certain occasions, it is particularly popular during the Night of the Stars in August. Not far away, in the former Ligoret Mill, a digital planetarium has been set up where, under a spherical dome, you can discover the Solar System and the Universe.

To walk further afield...
Starting from Tauxigny, two other walking trails await you: the Vallée de l'Échandon to the south (17 km - red markings) and the Au cœur des bois circuit to the west (12 km - yellow markings). Two themed trails have also been created by the Touraine Astronomical Society, starting from the Observatory: one dedicated to the Solar System (6 km) and the other to the Universe (2.5 km).

Le Jacquaire

A short, peaceful walk through woods and fields
The first half is a bit muddy when it has rained (October), but after that it's fine.
