Access: from the RN94 in the Briançon-Gap direction, in the village of Eygliers (formerly Mont-Dauphin), take the D37 towards Réotier. At the crossroads shortly after the petrifying fountain, turn left onto the D38. In the Pré Toscan district, turn right towards Tête de Vautisse and follow this direction to the starting car park. The road is not cleared of snow beyond this point. Access to the car park is a little complicated; Maps or Waze can be a great help.
(S/E) Continue on the access road until the first hairpin bend on the left.
(1) Turn right onto the path, which allows you to avoid the road for a few hundred metres before rejoining it. Continue to the hamlet of Mikéou.
(2) Turn left to cross the hamlet, heading towards Tête de Vautisse. There is a fountain 20 metres further up where you can refill your water bottles. Further on, take the hairpin bend to the left, leaving the access road to the Clot chalets.
(3) Leave the main path and turn left onto the path marked "dead end". This sign is valid in summer for cars with low chassis. The path becomes quite steep; it is an old logging trail.
(4) Continue right on the path that runs horizontally. The hardest part is over.
(5) Turn left; the view begins to open up, revealing the Val d'Escreins, dominated by Panestrel and Font Sancte. Pass the Saint-Thomas torrent and the Vallon hut on your left, which was abandoned a few years ago in favour of a more modern one.
(6) It's time to descend. Leave the Vautisse path on your left and turn right towards the valley.
(7) Continue to the right towards the pastures and a few summer chalets.
(8) Pass a chalet on your right and continue along the wide path. Further down, ignore a path on your right and continue straight ahead.
(3) Leave the path you followed on the way up on your right and retrace your steps to return to the car park where you started (S/E).
