Park in Chasselay, Place Henriette Besson.
(S/E) Head uphill towards the church. Turn left onto Rue du Grand Fossé and cross the D16 departmental road.
Follow Chemin de Valroing opposite. After the cemetery, take the first path on the right, Chemin Vert.
At the next T-junction, turn left onto Chemin de Poleymieux, which is part of the Grand Tour des Monts d'Or. You will reach the junction with the road leading to Valroing.
(1) Turn right and then immediately left onto the mountain bike trail that leads into the undergrowth, at the foot of a tree with a sign indicating that dogs must be kept on a leash.
You will come to a path. Turn left towards Saint-Germain-au-Mont-d'Or.
At the end of the road, turn right onto the path that goes uphill and ignore all the paths that branch off to the left.
When you reach a clearing, follow the uphill trail that starts to the left of a tree hut.
(2) Turn left onto the path that descends.
When you reach an intersection, stay on the path on the right and continue straight ahead towards the large fir trees. Be careful, there is a steep slope.
(3) See the rouissoir and the Hermitage of Saint-Antoine.
Go back up to the T-junction with the Chasselay path and turn left. You will come to a tarmac road; take it on the left to reach a wash house.
(4) Turn right onto the path with a barrier and, a few metres further on, turn left onto the path that goes uphill.
When you reach an intersection marked with a square post, turn right towards Mont Py, walking alongside the military grounds and the quarry.
(5) Follow the path opposite, arriving at a place called Le Brulay.
(6) Follow the path on the left. Before a small clearing, turn right. At the next intersection, turn right again towards the Gîte de la Glande.
Pass in front of the lodge to reach the Limonest road. Turn left onto the road, stop at the lime kiln and continue.
(7) Turn right into the undergrowth and follow the mountain bike trail. At the crossroads, turn right and keep to the right at the next T-junction.
When you reach the ruins of the Borde farm on the left, continue right for 150 metres along the geological trail.
(8) Turn left and then right onto the mountain bike trail. When you reach a stream, cross it and turn left onto the path that descends.
(9) At the hairpin bend, turn left.
Cross the stream again, walk along the Étang de Gauthier and go up the path opposite.
(10) Turn right onto the geological trail.
Ignore the path on the left and stop at the orientation table to admire the valley landscape.
When you reach the top of the Plantin hill, with the castle on your right, descend to the D16. Cross over to take Rue de la Chambre du Roi, recognisable by its vaulted ceiling.
Pass in front of the church to reach Place Henriette Besson (S/E).
