Departure from Chasselay, Place Marie-Henriette Bresson, Impasse Dodat.
(S/E) Go to the church and take Rue de la Chambre du Roi. Cross Rue du Promenoir (D16) and take Montée du Plantin opposite. At the top of the hill, follow the geological trail, pass the orientation table and continue, ignoring the trail that branches off to the right. Enter the woods and reach a fork.
(1) Take the path on the left that slopes gently downwards. Cross the stream and turn right.
(2) Turn onto the path that climbs to the right and at the first hairpin bend, continue to the left.
(3) Turn left for about 30 metres, then follow the track that branches off to the left for a round trip to the Madonna and its viewpoint. After enjoying the view, return to the previous fork.
(3) On your return, follow the path on the left with sharp bends.
(4) At the T-junction, turn right. After a steep climb, you will arrive at the geological trail. Turn left towards Mont Rouge.
(5) At the junction, take the first path on the right after the stones. You will arrive at the Limonest road. Follow it downhill for about 300 metres until you find a path on the left with a large rock.
(6) Follow it for about 400 m until you reach the next fork.
(7) Keep left, pass the small clearing and take the path at the bottom of the clearing. You will arrive at the top of the Col du Mont Verdun.
(8) Leave the tarmac road and take the path (not shown on the IGN map) to the right of the sign marked Croix du Mont Verdun, Poleymieux au Mont-d'Or.
Be careful! Take the path that descends to the left. Cross a small road and continue on the path opposite.
You will come to a path; follow it to the left until you reach Route des Gambins. Continue left towards Poleymieux for about 100 metres.
(9) Take the second path on the left. Go uphill and ignore the path that branches off to the left, then exit the woods and arrive at a T-junction. Take the path on the left. Join the tarmac road of La Maby. Turn left and continue for 350 metres until you reach a path on the right.
(10) Take the path on the right at the hairpin bend and follow it to the Limonest road. Continue to the left and turn right at the next intersection.
(5) At the crossroads, continue a few metres towards the quarry, then take the path on the left before the entrance to the quarry. Reach the road, Chemin de Chasselay, and follow it to the left.
Leave Chemin de la Glande on your left and continue, ignoring the paths on your right and left.
(11) Note the Hermitage Saint-Antoine and the Serminon threshing floor, then continue along the path.
(12) When you reach the tarmac road, turn left.
(13) About a hundred metres before the first houses in Chasselay, turn right onto Chemin Vert.
At the next intersection, turn left onto Chemin de Valroing. Arrive at the Café de la Mairie and cross the D16.
Follow Rue du Grand Fossé until you reach the Caisse d'Épargne and turn right to return to Place Marie-Henriette Bresson (S/E).
