Description of the walk

Departure: Rue du Pont
Parking: Playground, Rue du Pont
Markings: Yellow

(S/E) From the playground, go up the road and return to Rue du Pont. Cross the river and at the end of the street, turn right onto the D 50 until you reach the crossroads.

(1) Turn left onto Rue des Liras. Continue along the path and follow it when it branches off to the left. After the hill, continue to the right. The path leads to a road at a place called La Chaumette.

(2) Take the path opposite and continue straight ahead. At the end, continue along the road until you reach a fork at the edge of a wood.

(3) Continue along the road, still straight ahead, then when it branches off to the right, continue along the path opposite. At the crossroads at the edge of the woods, go straight ahead. Stay on this path, follow a hedge and go around the place called Neuville. At the end of the path, turn left onto the road. Then turn right onto the path (GR® de Pays de Touraine Sud) which descends into the forest. You will come to a fence.

(4) Continue along the path, following the fence, until you reach the intersection with a road.

(5) Turn left onto the road, then turn right onto the path and continue straight ahead to the hamlet of La Caltière and its intersection.

(6) Turn right onto the road. At the end of the hamlet, take the path on the left. At the various intersections, continue straight ahead. You will reach a crossroads at the edge of a wood on your left.

(7) Turn right onto the path that climbs through the fields. Pass one fork, then arrive at a second.

(8) At the intersection, continue straight ahead. When you reach the woods, keep going in this direction, veering slightly to the left. Stay on the path until you reach a place called Le Pontreau.

(9) At the junction, turn left onto the road, then immediately right, without joining the D 50. At the three-way junction, continue to the right and go up the road, which turns into a track. At the top, at La Bessonnière, continue along the small road alongside the château.

(10) Stay on this road and, at the intersection, turn right downhill. At the end, turn right onto the D 50. Head back up towards the village via Rue du Val de Glaise, then return to the crossroads you passed on the way out.

(1) Go straight ahead, then left to return to your starting point (S/E).

Worth a visit

The Forest of Tours-Preuilly
With its 1,000 hectares of woodland, this communal forest, formerly a hunting ground attached to the neighbouring château of Azay-le-Ferron, is now a natural site open to all. There are two hiking trails, routes for horse riders and a cycle loop. The Ribaloche pond, in the heart of the forest, is the ideal place for a walk or a picnic. Right next to it is a maze designed in the undergrowth. You can use the Sud Touraine Explorer app to find your way around while discovering the site's flora and fauna.

The Museum of Prehistory
Southern Touraine preserves many traces and remains of its prehistoric occupation. In Bossay-sur-Claise, a farmer with a passion for history, Mr Henri Thiennet, has collected carved stones and archaeological artefacts. All these objects are now on display in a museum in the heart of the village, mainly devoted to prehistory (open on weekends and public holidays from 15 June to 15 August, and by reservation).

To walk further...
A second loop is marked out in Bossay-sur-Claise (20 km - yellow markings). You will also come across the Chemin de Saint Martin and the Voie Verte du Sud Touraine.
