Please note: the normal route, a steep path along the Corboeuf ravine, has collapsed and is closed to the public (source: Rosières Town Hall). The route has been changed to bypass this area.
Park in the car park of the hamlet of La Gare, which can be reached via the D431 from Bessamorel on the N88.
(S/E) Head north-west along the wide, downhill tarmac road. You will soon reach theGR®40crossroads.
(1) Continue straight ahead, ignoring theGR®, and pass through the hamlets of Saucias and La Varenne before reaching the basalt and granite quarries.
(2) Continue on to reach the second quarry, leave the tarmac road and turn left onto the La Galoche railway line. This is an unpaved track; follow it straight ahead, following its regular curves. You will reach a crossroads at an altitude of 741 m.
(3) Turn right towards Chastel Sud-Ouest, then south. This is the detour to bypass the recently collapsed area of the Corboeuf ravine. The path becomes paved at the entrance to Chastel. Then follow the main paved road.
(4) Take the path opposite, signposted Corbœuf, to enjoy a beautiful wide-angle view as you enter a large, flat, rectangular field on the left. Walk to the end of the field, where you will find a stable cliff edge jutting out into the ravine like the bow of a ship. This is a large area, ideal for a break or a picnic.
(5) Return to the previous crossroads.
(4) Turn left onto the road. Stay on this road, ignoring the roads branching off to the right or left, to reach the hamlet of Coindet and then a crossroads.
(6) Take the road opposite. At the next four-way crossroads, turn left. At thesecond crossroads, turn left again.
(7) At the next intersection, turn right (avoid the more obvious path on the left).
(8) At the houses, turn right and follow the main road. At the crossroads with a cross, turn left and continue to the entrance to the village of Saint-Julien-du-Pinet.
(9) Continue straight ahead. Cross a road and go straight ahead to the church.
(10) Retrace your steps to the village exit.
(9) Take a path on the left and climb towards the forest. Go around Knoll d'Alibert to the west. Ignore a path coming from the right and pass the Arzalier house. You will come to a road; follow it to the left.
(11) Turn left to reach the hamlet of Le Cros de Mortessagne.
(12) Turn right and go to the end of the main street before turning left onto a path heading east. You will reach the hamlet of La Rétisse.
(13) Turn right onto the D28 and follow it until it joins theGR®40at the next crossroads.
(14) Take it on the right, following the red and white markings. Cross a road and continue straight ahead to the hamlet of Glavenas.
(15) Climb the small road that leads to the chapel (panoramic view).
(16) Retrace your steps.
(15) Take the path on the right and follow theGR® downhill (ignore a path on the left). This will take you to the hamlet of Le Prat and then back to the original crossroads.
(1) Turn left onto the original path to return to the car park at the station (S/E).
