Depart from the car park opposite the large pink building at 20 Route de Lutzelbourg.
(S/E) Walk along the right-hand side of the D132 for about 60 metres. After the house, take the small path on the right that joins Route de Baerenbach. Cross the railway line and, immediately afterwards, take the path for a few dozen metres and continue to the right on a wide path (theGR®531). It joins the road at the Carrefour de Stambach after the water service building.
(1) Leave the road on your right (the return route). With your back to the information board, take the small road opposite for a few dozen metres until you reach the start of a path on your left. Follow this beautiful, long path marked with yellow signs along the hillside overlooking the Baerenbach stream (a tributary of the Zorn) to the Maisonnette de Pierre.
(2) Cross the small road and take the path on the left (yellow sign) along the other bank of the stream to the Baerenbach Forest House and a crossroads.
(3) Go up to the right on the path (yellow triangle/blue ring). After this long and beautiful climb through the woods, you will arrive at the Grosslimersberg crossroads. Turn left (blue-white-blue rectangle) and make a short detour to the magnificent CV Hultehouse chalet. See Practical Information.
(4) From the chalet, return to the crossroads and climb up, turning 90° to the left (green disc) to cross a path, then turn 90° to the right and head north. Further on, you will reach the Rochers Creux. See Practical Information.
(5) Immediately after, at the fork in the road, keep to the right, still following the green disc. Pass in front of the Source du Bannwald and, after the junction with a path, turn left uphill to reach a group of rocks with a viewpoint. See Practical Information.
(6) Continue on the green disc to reach Rocher du Muguet. See Practical Information.
(7) From the rock, return to the Green Disc/Yellow Ring marked trail, which now heads west. It climbs moderately to a wide curve that turns east and meets the Hultehouse Forest Road.
(8) Leave the Green Disc trail, turn left for a few metres and then turn right off the forest road to continue eastwards, following the Yellow Ring trail. You will arrive at the Wasserwald archaeological site.
(9) Turn right for about a hundred metres, then left towards the east. Wander among the ruins via the path that joins theGR®531(marked with blue and white rectangles) and, at the top, turn left.
(10) Before leaving Wasserwald, you can make a short detour to see Lorenzo Rock. To do so, turn left (red and yellow rings) at a wide left-hand bend and walk about 100 metres. Then veer slightly to the right to get there. See Practical Information.
(11) Retrace your steps back to the crossroads to rejoin theGR®531(Blue and White Rectangle).
(10) Leave the Red Ring markings and turn left onto the pretty winding descent, following theGR® and Yellow Ring markings. You will cross several crossroads until you reach the Hultehouse Forest Road.
(12) Turn right and continue downhill into the valley. You will arrive at the Carrefour de Stambach.
(1) Turn left and walk past the imposing drinking water service building. Return to the railway line and the path you took on the way there and follow it back to your starting point (S/E).
