Park on Simplostrasse, on the Swiss side of the pass, near the Monte Leone hotel and restaurant.
(S/E) Walk down behind the hotel towards a small pond. Go round it and climb back up the other side to reach a track. Turn right, then take a path that crosses a wetland area to the left (signpost). A little further on, ignore a path branching off to the left and, after a short steep climb, you’ll reach a small tarmac road which you should follow to the left until you reach the hamlet of Hopsche, just above the lake of the same name (Hopschusee).
(1) Carry on straight ahead, then turn left towards Gälmji and Staldhorn. After a stretch heading east along the mountainside, you’ll reach a slightly flatter area by a small, unnamed lake (a large pool).
(2) Head up to the right towards Staldhorn and Gälmji. The climb is a little steeper, but it’s a gentle ascent until you reach a junction near a pass on the left.
(3) Carry on straight ahead to the summit, which you’ll reach near a cross and a few votive offerings.
(4) Follow the same route as on the way up, but in the opposite direction, to return to the starting point (S/E).
