Soberton walks

A Hampshire walk from Exford in the Meon Valley that includes sections of the South Downs Way and the Monarch's Way. The walk includes a section of the old Watercress Line before climbing to the top of old Winchester Hill for some good views.

Walk or Cycle from Warsash to Swanwick along the length of the Hamble river

This is a beautiful circular walk ideal for those starting in Chandlers Ford, Eastleigh, Bishopstoke or Otterbourne. The walk takes you through woods and a meadowed track - certainly the most attractive way to reach Allbrook. You can take footpaths to connect with the Itchen Navigation and follow the famous chalk stream all the way to Bishopstoke. The return is a delight of paddocks and mature woodland with a high point above Stoke Park Farm where the view over Hampshire is stunning.

Spectacular South Downs route to the coast - downland, woodland, Stansted Park, ending at Emsworth railway station.

Starting from Prinsted (just off the A259) this West Sussex walk explores the shoreline of Thorney Island which lies within the boundaries of the Chichester Harbour AONB. The route follows the Sussex Border Path for most of the way.

Starting from Fawley town centre, with views over Southampton Water and the historic inlet of Ashlett Creek. This walk is great for families with young children, starting from Fawley town centre and following a pretty country lane with views over Southampton Water to the small and historic inlet of Ashlett Creek. It then passes the Jolly Sailor pub and 19th century tidal mill before following the coast through a contrasting landscape of industry and wildlife.

A West Sussex walk with a variety of contrasting scenery from woodland to rolling downs with expansive views. The route includes some ascents but these are rewarded by fine views. The walk also provides the opportunity to visit the Shepherd's Church near Didling.

Situated on the southern edge of the New Forest and a mile from the Solent coast, Exbury is a peaceful and beautiful village with a fascinating history and important war time links to Lepe and the build up to D-Day. The walk starts at the famous Exbury Gardens then takes you along field and woodland paths to Lepe for spectacular views across the Solent. returning inland through farms and woodland to Exbury village.

This is a linear walk from Whippingham to Newport county town of the Isle of Wight. The return journey to Whippingham can be made on the number 5 bus which leaves from the bus station in Newport. The walk explores St. Mildred's Church at Whippingham and then follows the River Medina south to Newport.

Let’s go for a walk in Jane Austen’s countryside around Alton, Hampshire. She lived in a nearby village and the house she once occupied is open to the public. The Jane Austen House in Chawton is where the author lived from 1809 to 1817 when due to poor health she moved to Winchester to seek medical care. It is now a museum showcasing the house as it was during Jane Austen’s time.

Varied and attractive shorelines, with views across Spithead, are teamed with rural and village interest. A lifeboat station, Nelsonian naval connections, and a rare telephone box are also featured.
