Description of the walk

(S) From Bembridge Point, head west on the Yar River Trail (B3395). After 500m, you will find a small path (gate) on the left and turn right onto a narrow path (more pleasant than the busy road). When the path reaches the road again, cross it and go over a small bridge to turn right and join the Coastal Path. Go around St Helens Mill and find the path over the water.

(1) Follow the causeway. At its end, go straight on until you come to a small road. Turn left onto this road. After 100m, turn right off the road just before the buildings to reach the seafront.

(2) Leave the road after 50m and take the Coastal Path inland (the small path on the seafront is closed). Go around the holiday centre and past Priory Woods towards Seaview.

(3) Enjoy the seascape. Follow the path that runs through the backyards of houses and join the seafront.

(4) From there, enjoy the promenade all the way to the end.

(5) Walk through Puckpool and continue along the seafront to Ryde. Use the steps over the railway to reach the town centre (E).

Practical information

Good walking shoes, a warm and waterproof jacket, sticks, food and water are recommended. The coastal path is well signposted. However, we recommend that you check your position on the map using the Visorando app. You are encouraged to use the Coastal Path diversions wherever signposted, as parts of the Coastal Path have been eroded and are not accessible.

Most of the walk is on a good track, although occasionally you will walk on a road.

There is a good bus service at all the starting and finishing points.
