Skelding walks

Great circular walk to visit Nidderdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and the famous ruins of Fountains Abbey. Fees apply to visit the Fountains Abbey.

A pleasant circular walk combining the Seven Bridges walk with paths through the delightful Studley Roger, then eastwards to the outskirts of Ripon to return via Whitcliffe and the Mackershaw Pastures.

A lovely walk through Hackfall Woods, taking in all the features (highlighted in bold) and with a detour to visit to the tea shop in Grewelthorpe mid way. Lots of interest and different seasons provide changing views as the follies and grottoes are hidden or revealed by the trees.

A pleasant North Yorkshire walk that starts from the brewing town of Masham. The outward route follows the banks of the River Ure. The return uses paths and lanes to return via Nutwith Common.

Circular reservoir walk, fresh around Grimwith Reservoir.

A walk from Appletreewick and back along the Wharfe to Burnsall and around Grimwith Reservoir.

This walk follows the River Wharfe from Bolton Abbey to Barden Bridge in the Yorkshire Dales. One of the highlights of the walk is the Strid, a narrow rocky defile, through which the River Wharfe thunders through. The walk has few gradients and includes some pleasant woodland.

There's a pay car park in Burnsall (£6.30 for 6 hours) or you may find free parking on the street. This is a beautiful walk taking you on a path beside the river Wharfe, over the suspension bridge and up to Hebden (picnic table en route, tea room and pub in Hebden). Leave Hebden and head up High Lane which takes you in to Grassington (location for the new series of All Creatures Great and Small). You then head down to the Wharfe and make your way to Linton Falls passing Little Emily's Bridge as you carry on up the road to the crossroads. Go straight on along Lauradale Lane and down into the pretty village of Linton (pub). Leave the village green and head out across open fields to join Thorpe Lane. Follow the lane into Thorpe and take the road to the left and follow the lane to the end and turn right and head downhill and make your way back to Burnsall crossing at least 8 stiles over dry stone walls. A welcoming pint then awaits you at the Red Lion in Burnsall.  

This a pleasant walk in Wensleydale that allows you to enjoy this beautiful part of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. The highlights of the walk include the River Ure, Redmire Force and the Chapel of the Kinights Templar.
