Park in the school car park, 65 Chemin de Beauregard. Other nearby car parks: town square car park, dedicated parking spaces on Allée des Travers.
(S/E) Opposite the Maison du Cairanne, the information board marks the starting point of the walk. Head west towards the town hall. At the first crossroads, turn right onto Chemin des Ormeaux.
Here you will find the first signpost for the Sentiers du Cairanne, which will guide you throughout your walk. Follow the red markings. Once in Sous Ville, take the first turn right then left to follow Chemin du Valat and come out onto Chemin de Saint-Génies.
(1) Turn left and then immediately right, staying on Chemin de Saint-Génies, and pass in front of the Cairanne cemetery to reach a dirt track.
Opposite the cemetery, stop at the information panel to learn more about the history of the village and the Cairanne AOC.
(2) At the crossroads, follow the sign pointing to the left. The climb up the Col du Débat begins. After a short climb, cross the small wood, walk towards the crossroads and continue straight ahead.
Halfway up the climb, take a short break to read the "Nos Terroirs" sign. Behind you, admire the view of Saint-Vincent Church surrounded by the ramparts of the Old Village.
(3) At the hairpin bend, turn left onto the tarmac road. At the next intersection, take the path on the right, turn right again at the next fork and continue straight on to Col du Débat (altitude 254 m).
(4) Continue towards the sign at Col du Débat and take Route du Feu on the left to the small square surrounded by trees.
Here you have the option of joining the "Sentier Bouteille" trail (2.5 km remaining - see Sentier Bouteille).
(5) Take a moment to learn more about the specific characteristics of the wines produced in our region. Stay on the Route du Feu and climb towards Montagne de Ventabren.
(6) At the intersection, turn right. The path leads above a vineyard enclosed by woods.
(7) Head left, then walk along the bottom of the vineyard plot to the right. At the corner of the plot, take the path on the left.
(8) Leave the path and take the track on the right to cross the two vineyards. At the intersection, turn right towards the Dentelles de Montmirail.
(9) At the Y-junction, take the left-hand path and follow it to the group of houses in Brès.
(10) Turn right and join the tarmac road. Follow it until you reach the intersection of Chemin Sous Serre Blanc and Chemin de l'Amassat.
(11) Continue straight on Chemin de l'Amassat. Turn left onto the dirt track to cross several vineyards, then follow the path on the right. Learn all about the landscapes of Cairanne by reading the "Nos Paysages" sign.
(12) Back on the tarmac road, turn left towards Chemin des Girards. At the crossroads, turn right and follow the tarmac road to the junction with Route de Saint-Roman de Malegarde.
(13) Turn left towards the Old Village. Cross Chemin des Orneaux and take the grassy path behind it, which leads to Chemin des Remparts.
(14) Turn right to go through the gate in the Castri Cairanne ramparts and walk through the streets of the Old Village. Follow the street to the right towards the Church of Saint-Vincent. Take the stairs to the Gardens of Cairanne.
(15) Turn right at the hairpin bend, then left to follow Rue Sainte-Catherine. Then turn right onto Montée du Donjon, then left onto Chemin de la Fontaine.
(16) At the roundabout, turn right onto Allée des Travers, which leads directly to the Maison du Cairanne and the car park (S/E).
