Park at Col de Viarès, in the car park on the left of the road coming from Saint-Roman-de-Malegarde.
(S/E) Cross the road and follow the track that runs alongside the botanical trail to the right of the vineyards, winding its way through the vineyards before reaching the forest. Continue to a crossroads.
(1) Follow the botanical trail that branches off to the left, ignoring all the other trails to the right or left, until you reach the crossroads at the Montagne signpost.
(2) Take theGR®4opposite and walk alongside a vineyard on your left. Continue on theGR® to reach the Amassat signpost.
(3) Turn right towards Les Combes Basses. Stay on the red and white markedGR® trail. Walk through the Ravin de la Combe d'Henry. At the exit, cross the vineyards, turn left onto the D51 and keep right at the next crossroads to reach the Cairanne pumping station.
(4) Turn right onto theGR®4variant and cross the vineyards again. Reach the Ventabre marker at the Col du Débat.
(5) Turn right, still on theGR®, to find the Montagne Ouest marker further on.
(6) Turn left onto theGR® and leave it 100 m further on to follow the path to the right towards Travers des Vergers, which runs parallel to the GR®. Then rejoin theGR® just before the Serre la Garde crossroads.
(7) Turn left to reach the summit of Serre de la Garde.
(8) Enjoy the view before returning to the previous crossroads.
(7) Continue opposite, taking theGR® towards Le Ligneul. At the intersection, just before the 353 mark, turn right onto the path through the vineyards to return to the right via the botanical trail to the Col de Viarès car park (S/E).
