The Sablon Trail

In days gone by, this path was used by the children of Sablon to walk to the local school in Levis.
You can also explore part of the battlefield at the site of the Battle of Fontenoy.

Description of the walk

Park in the square by the church in Levis.

(S/E) Walk past the church and go down the few steps to join a narrow path. Leave the woods, then turn left onto the road and enter the village of Sablon. Walk through the village until you reach a crossroads with four roads.

(1) Take the road on the right, then turn immediately left onto the small dirt track. You’ll soon reach another four-way junction. Turn right onto the road on the right until you reach the D301.

(2) Follow it to the right until you reach another four-way junction.

(3) Turn left onto this wide track and head for the ford over the Ruisseau de Saint-Bonnet. Cross the stream and begin a gentle climb before joining a track.

(4) Turn right onto it and pass through the hamlet of Solmet. At the next bend, leave the road and head straight ahead onto the track. Cross the stream again to reach the D1.

(5) Turn right onto it and follow it carefully to return to the car park in the village square at Levis (S/E).

A really lovely walk through the wheat fields. However, there are no small signs to mark the path. Fortunately, with Visorando, there’s no problem finding your way!
