Park in the car park below, behind the Tourist Office.
The trail is very well marked in yellow with occasional signposts.
It merges with theGR®46-GRP® for about 350 metres, heading towards Mespel.
(S/E) Walk away from the car park, heading west towards the rubbish bins and the technical building. Walk past these. At the track leading to the village, turn sharp right. Take the dirt track that runs behind the cemetery. At the road, turn right towards the entrance to the Verger Conservatoire de Puycelsi.
(1) Turn left onto the path. Follow the orchard. Pass a wash house and fountain. From the wash house to the approach to La Vène, the path exists on the ground but is not shown on the IGN map.
The path winds and climbs. In front of Lavaur (ruins), it descends to the Ruisseau d'Audoulou.
(2) In front of the stream, follow it on your right, on the left bank. Climb steadily up to the waterfall of the same name.
(3) Audoulou waterfall. In front of the waterfall, climb the ramp on the left. At the T-junction, turn left. Go around the ruins of La Vène. The ruins are not visible from the path as they are located on a hill behind the trees.
At the inverted Y-junction, continue straight ahead. Pass a charcoal kiln on your left, below the path.
You will reach a ford. You can make a round trip to the right to a spring fountain, 50 metres away.
(4) Cross the ford. Head north, up through a wooded area. At the wide white track, continue climbing opposite until you reach the large clearing at the Plégade roundabout. Walk about 15 metres into the clearing.
(5) Turn left onto the dirt track. You will come to an inverted Y-junction. Turn sharply left onto the wide forest track. Pass a picnic table.
Take a break to enjoy the view of Puycels between two rows of trees.
200 metres further on, cross the ditch on the right. Follow the faint path to see the Montoulieu geodetic marker. This is the second highest point in the Grésigne.
(6) Montoulieu. Note the exceptional size of the trees around this point. Retrace your steps.
Continue along the track to the left. The grassy, flat track becomes earth and stones as it descends towards the clearing of Notre-Dame des Bois.
(7) At the clearing, leave all the wide tracks suitable for vehicles. Continue straight ahead on the path that leads to Ayrol. Note a remarkable tree on the left, at Ayrol. Join the GRP®.
(8) At the junction with theGR®46, follow its curve to the right towards Mespel. Cross a crossroads.
(9) Leave theGR®46on the left. Continue in a southerly direction. You will reach an open space with a picnic table and a path leading off to the right.
(10) The path continues straight ahead, curving to the right. Follow the woods and come out in the middle of the meadows at the end of the tree hedge.
Turn left. View of Puycelsi below on the left. Descend gently to the D964. At the road, cross the bridge over the Audoulou.
(11) Turn left immediately after passing the parapet. The gravel path leads to a trail after the bend. Turn right onto this stony path. Climb up this path to the clearing (former tennis courts on the right).
(12) Head towards the edge of the woods opposite. Climb the dirt path that branches off to the right. Ignore a path that descends halfway up. Follow the ramparts. You will come out at the edge of Avenue Raymond VII - D8A.
(13) Go down the small path on the right. Pass a fountain. At the tarmac, continue straight ahead and rejoin the D8A. Cross it and head towards the Tourist Office. Return to the car park below (S/E).
Caution: very slippery if it has rained
