Lac de Pont trail

This trail leads around the Lac de Pont artificial reservoir. This dam was built in 1882 and brought up to standard at the end of 2018. Car park, camping, restaurant, beach and leisure facilities are all available. A footbridge and staircase provide access to the dam and the right bank path. Other modifications underway following the 2018 drought. This October 11, 2018: diving board and beach have been demolished and will be rebuilt. A floating footbridge is planned to serve the activity zones.

Description of the walk

Start: Park in the car park at the Lac de Pont leisure park.

(S/E) Turn your back on the dike and walk along the beach to join the lakeside path (left bank). Continue for 1400m, where there is an information hut.

(1) From the "Repos et information" ("rest and information") hut known as 1400, continue along the lakeside path to cross the "Rau des Pralats" footbridge and continue along the left bank to reach the next information hut.

(2) The information hut is on the left of the path. From here, a path on your right leads to the VVF or Village Vacances Famille. Do not take this path, but continue along the left bank of the lake to reach the footbridge over the Ruisseau du Larrey.

(3) Cross the Larrey footbridge and follow the lakeside path to the left to discover the Pont Romain de la Ronce. This bridge is visible or passable in dry weather, and allows you to pass between the banks of the lake, reducing the distance by 4 Km. If it's not passable, stay on the left bank lakeside path which takes you to the tail of the lake (footbridge across to the right bank of the Armançon or feeder river).

(4) Cross this footbridge and turn left onto the sentier des Oiseaux, continuing to the next crossroads.

(5) Continue left to reach the right bank of the lake and the footbridge over the Ruisseau de Pisserotte.

(6) Cross the wooden bridge over the Ruisseau des Pisserotte and its rocks (a great spot for photographers). Follow this path along the right bank of the lake to the footbridge over the Peut Crot stream.

(7) Cross the wooden bridge over the stream and continue along the right bank of the lake towards the dam which is visible.

(8) A staircase has just been installed between the dam and the right bank path. It may provide a shortcut. Continue along the modified path and descend along the spillway to reach the Armançon footbridge.

(9) Cross this footbridge and follow the path towards the dam.

(10) A staircase takes you back up to the dam, where you can reach the beach or the car park(S/E).

A beautiful, wooded circuit around a man-made lake. When we walked it, the lake was at its highest level, which made for some great views.
The path is very pleasant for walking: it is just wide enough for one hiker (if there are a lot of you, the group will spread out over a long column).

A very beautiful walk, both wooded and always by the water, in an enclosed environment. When night falls, you can imagine a dragon rising above the water. Lots of birdsong. Water birds are few and far between, perhaps due to the lake's size and the presence of fishermen.

The dam dates from 1882, not 1982!

We really enjoyed this walk, with the view of the lake all the time. The path is narrow. Be careful where you walk as there are lots of stones, tree roots etc. Not accessible to pushchairs and wheelchairs but shaded.
Not accessible to pushchairs or wheelchairs, but shaded.
A few places to stop for a picnic en route at the start, but otherwise a pleasant beach near the dam with a table and eating area.

Very nice tour of the lake, we're under the trees, so it's not too hot, but we're right by the water. There are several places to swim, of course at the leisure centre, but also in many places before or after, small places that descend quickly into the water, but it's great fun. The only downside is that it's very busy, but it's a lovely walk. It's quite long, though, taking a good 3 hours.

A very nice walk in a very quiet and pleasant environment in this early season heat.
Easy trail; only its length can discourage.

Lovely walk to do in any season, well situated, close to two restaurants in Pont and Massène, and 2-3 km from a beautiful little town, Semur en Auxois.

Hi, I did this route using GPS. The changes at that time were not recorded on the IGN maps. I take your comments on board. No change in altitude. No points of interest. Yes, but you need the river Armançon to be at its lowest to discover or pass over this Roman bridge of bramble between August and October. Thank you, hikers.

My husband and I found this site magnificent, with the lake below the circuit (the water level was very low and part of the lake was dry). The circuit is very well signposted (mileage indicated) but dangerous, especially with children.

It's the ideal summer hike in the cooler months, when you want a change from the sporty rocks and steep gradients. You won't feel the kilometres and the breaks are peaceful by the water.

The work on the dam is almost finished, the footbridge is in place and so are the metal steps.
For the fun of it, I find it nicer but harder to go behind it and return via the old footbridge at the foot of the dam and the stairs that have been refurbished.
The signs on the dam and the work on the way back are remarkably well done.
Enjoy the walk
