Sentier des Bois du Sud

Head to the entrance of the Bois du Sud campsite. There is an entry fee for the site: 400 XFP per person.

(S/E) Follow the track until you reach Faré No. 3.

(1) Take the path on the right, crossing a wooden bridge, then head left about a hundred metres further on. Follow the yellow markings for the rest of the path, which is very well maintained. Reach the viewpoint.

(2) Continue down the path until you reach a track. Take it to the left, then take the path to the right to enter the rainforest.

(3) Turn right to enter the rainforest. Magnificent ferns and palm trees, and a lovely little river to cross with your feet staying dry thanks to the stepping stones provided. Then return to Faré.

(1) Return to the main track and head back to the campsite entrance (S/E).

The route passes through the protected area where the Camping des Bois du Sud is located. There is an entry fee for the area (400 XFP per person).

Accessible by car in under an hour from Nouméa, the last two kilometres are on a well-maintained track.

The campsite is situated on the GR® Sud route, so it’s easy to set off and explore this section of the trail from here.
